Understatement of the century.

We will have roughly 45 available players for the game Saturday, and even fewer on scholarship.

Defense is having to play guys for the full 60 minutes with no rest they are so thin. We have no remaining backups at several positions.

We've been real lucky for the past three years. You can't be lucky forever. Statistics catch up to you.

We really can't complain though because we've faced other teams with injury problems during our run. It's just, unfortunately, part of the game.

After Rocky got hurt I think I read where are missing 20 players that would have contributed this year. This counts some dismissals and transfers.

14 out for the season with injuries. 20 lost for injury or non injury reasons total.

Wow, that's a lot of injuries. Both offense and defense?

We aren't very good - even with all our starters in - but mainly because we keep turning the ball over. Lost a fumble last week at the ULM 1. Also had a couple of special teams disasters.

If we ever quit making so many mistakes with the ball we might be competitive. Our defense seems to be improving - but everything is relative. And, we still can't stop the run.

Lost more on defense than offense. Offense has been without players at times, but most of those have been two or three week injuries rather than season long ones.

Because of personnel and injury issues, we can only use about 25 percent of our actual playbook on offense, though much of that is because of the limitations of having a 5-10 QB who cant throw a pass longer than about 15 yards.

Defensively we came into the year much stronger, and were dominant at times early in the year. ULL was the first team to really expose the fact that our DL with an average weight of 245 pounds can be pushed around pretty easily. App discovered that we were trying to compensate by committing tons of players to stopping the run, and that you could also be successful throwing a lot of short quick passes early to set up the run. Texas State followed App's lead and threw in an option wrinkle that really hurt. Idaho tried to exploit us, but didn't have the horses to keep that up for the full game and fell apart late. USA was without its best player on offense and defense and was never able to overcome that.

Texas State ran the same play three or four times in a row and got huge yards each time. They knew we3 just couldn't match up with it.

A variation of what App State killed us with. I expect to see it again this weekend from NMSU.

It's a bad year to have all of these injuries. #1 we are very young. Most if the 2 deep is RS Freshmen or true Freshmen. In a lot of ways this year was a rebuilding year. It was a very successful campaign until we lost these guys. The future is bright. Hope we win and go bowling

I would hate for NMSU to knock AState out of a bowl slot - but - we would get over it. 04-cheers We could sure use a win ourselves!

Still not sure we have the horses to stay with you - but, as I indicated above - for us it's all about the turnovers. IF we can limit them, we'll have a chance.

Never fear. If you knock us out of a bowl slot, there will be someone there waiting to take our place.

It was more than just two players, but we definitely couldn't overcome the injuries. Our starting QB, starting RB, starting TE, best LB, and best DB were all out, and a starting receiver broke his leg on our first drive. We had 8 starters out total. The biggest losses were the two you were referring to: our defensive anchor LB Maleki Harris and QB Brandon Bridge. Our backup QB didn't have a very good day at all. Good luck Saturday, Red Wolves. Your bowl hopes might rest in this game.
