I feel that by allowing a committee to decide this playoff, we have set ourselves up for consolidation of power that G5 schools will never be able to break. When we had the BCS system, it was just took math to figure out what was needed break into a BCS bowl. Now through a veil of secrecy, this playoff committee can remove or add anybody into the equation with out repudiation or accountability. They can skew it any way they want too. They can committ full blown fraud if they want to. There is no appealing process. At least with the old system, you had the AP poll, Coaches poll and BCS rankings to go by. This whole thing is a scam.

The rankings at time of game thing is kinda whack, but take VT for example when we played them. They were coming off a whooping of Ohio State in Columbus, and were ranked like 17th I think. VT has lost almost all of their offense to injuries, and we have what we see now.

Honestly, I wish they had done one ranking at the end of the season and that's it. Doing it each week only gives ESPN something to talk about on Tuesday nights.

The issue is, the entire college system is not a democracy but an aristocracy. No matter where you turn, whether it's a college's AD, president, coach, conference commissioner or anyone else, they all want to move to a more 'prestigious' institution. So when push comes to shove, they cave.
There really is no one looking out for the best interest of those perceived as less prestigious. Not the NCAA, not the media and not even elected officials. And every time the pot begins the boil, the aristocrats expand a little (invite Utah to shut Orin Hatch up, TCU, etc.) change the rules and tighten their grip. Until the G5 (and FCS) band together and sets its own by-laws nothing will change.
