Let's Go Canes!

GREAT three-point shooting. Sounds like a big crowd at Halton.

Very frustrating end to the Charlotte game. Miami escapes with the win.

RE: CUSA Basketball Week #3
We go down 77-74. Helluva game, but we just couldn't pull it out in the end. Showed a lot of fight when we got down by 13 and went to the line for 3 free throws to tie it with 9.4 seconds left, but only hit 2/3. Missed two attempts to tie it at the end.

Miami could not miss tonight. They hit contested 3 after contested 3, several at the end of the shot clock. Great effort, but I really wanted the win.

Woo Hoo!!

Go Canes.

Great game by Charlotte. I was impressed by the Charlotte home crowd. It definitely made a difference, 18 points to 3. Big win... Miami moves to 6-0.

I am not sure how we won the game against Troy tonight. My best guess is that somehow we scored two more points than them. Ya think?

Miami 14-23 from behind the arc and they win by 3. Pretty much all you need to know.

RE: CUSA Basketball Week #3
Charlotte's effort tonight would have beaten nearly any team in the country.

But 14-23 from 3... thats 70%. That's insurmountable. And to think most of those shots were contested. Amazing shooting display by Miami. Will they do it again all season long?

If Charlotte can shake off the disappointment, that game is going to pay dividends down the stretch. They way they rallied was superb. Poor decision by Pierria Henry to try for the tying three, but the rest was golden.

When is Sullivan (PF) finally going to suit up?

From what I saw, Miami just made soooo many mistakes on both ends of the court that really added up and Charlotte capitalized well off of them. If the Canes can work out the kinks I think we could be ranked VERY high before long. GREAT game 49ers.

RE: CUSA Basketball Week #3
Tough loss, but we looked good in a lot of ways. You simply can't beat a team that scores 42 points from the 3 point line.

I liked that the refs mostly let the guys play. There weren't many fouls called in the game. I wish more games were like that.

If Sullivan is even decent if/when we get him back, I love our chances to win CUSA.

WKU on the other hand looks like they're in for a long season. I've watched all their games except the one tonight and haven't been at all impressed.

Most WKU fans expected this season to be "the year" we turned the corner and come out of the gates strong for first time in about 6 years..We returned a lot of players with experience, got some decent recruits in and many felt this was our time to shine, than the season started03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead...

Its been a nightmarish start to say the least...I think our HC is just not getting it done period, we have had zero player development in 3 seasons, our offense goes through lulls every game where they cannot score if wide open.....Our seniors are not playing like seniors and we have no PG...That basically describes our team...We very much look like a .500 team this season, just want to apologize to fellow CUSA members this season, we are going to be zero help in non. conference and RPI...Until we get a PG we are going to continue struggle....
.
This pretty much sums it up. On paper the best team since 2009, on the floor one of the worst.
Not to make excuses but we could turn it around. We have not loss to anyone terrible yet. Minnesota NIT champs, Belmont a 20+ win team last season, and Stony Brook who won 23 games last year. Those are games other than maybe Minnesota a CUSA team should win.
I think we will get better but 2-7 to start is most likely.

14-23 is 60.9%

Either way it's tough to overcome. I hope Charlotte continues to perform at this level for the remainder of the season.

RE: CUSA Basketball Week #3
UTEP hasn't played well yet. UTEP has beaten two teams with more name recognition than most other wins by CUSA teams and hasn't played any cupcakes. I think UTEP has a really good chance at winning the Wooden Classic (80% IMO) which would likely get them very close to a top 25 ranking. After the Wooden Classic UTEP has two very difficult road games @ Colorado State and @ NMSU. If UTEP can get through all these games undefeated then they will for sure have a top 25 ranking for the home game against Arizona. I have said it many times before, this is the best UTEP team in since the 2010 team cruised trough CUSA with a 15-1 record. There is more and more talk of Vince Hunter being an NBA lottery pick after this season. You really should watch one of UTEP's games in the Wooden Classic to understand what I am talking about.

They've looked kinda "meh" so far to me. Not bad, just not as good as last year. Their new guys are still settling into their roles while Charlotte's new guys have come out hot, not looking like freshmen at all.

Our two freshmen are averaging 17ppg. Throw in our other newcomer, Braxton Ogbueze, and the new guys are giving us 30ppg.

The freshmen are shooting 50% and 51.5% from the field. Braxton is at 46%. From three, the freshmen are shooting 66.7% and 36.4% and Braxton is shooting 44%.

Throw in Mike Thorne who is looking like the best center in CUSA right now and we're pretty stacked.

This is against easily the hardest schedule anyone in CUSA has played so far.
