Question for UTEP fans
Do you guys get many football fans South of the border ?

Wondering if any Mexican nationals come over for the games, and if your radio broadcasts are available in Spanish.

Not sure how many come from across the border, but we do have Spanish broadcasts.

RE: Question for UTEP fans
It is hard to say. Like STexMiner said, there is enough Spanish speaking demand that our games have separate Spanish language broadcasts. I will say this, a local Ciudad Juarez newscast has better CUSA coverage than any of the actual CUSA markets (El Paso included). Going back and forth of the border is such a non issue that it would be very difficult to know who is from where.

Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.

I believe FIU also does Spanish broadcasts.

I liked it when the guy said, "se la llevo hasta la cocina," translated, "he took all the way to the kitchen". LOL

RE: Question for UTEP fans
Does anyone know how far the football radio broadcast reach is-- into Mexico ?

I also assume the UTEP Sinclair TV broadcasts can be picked up with antenna ?

http://www.espn1650.com/

That is the site that broadcasts UTEP football games in Spanish. Like it's English counterpart, I am sure the online stream is blocked.

Yes, because Sinclair owns two local television stations. From what I understand, if Sinclair doesn't own a local television station, your market would not get ASN.

We get several Mexican nationals that come over. For basketball in my row alone there are 5 or 6 who cross over the bridge for the game. A lot of it has to do with the drug war, many people moved into apartments in El Paso to escape the violence in Juarez and ended up supporting UTEP.

The "Diario de Juarez" does extensive coverage of UTEP athletics

Yeah. At the last game I attended, there was a few Mexican nationals in my row. American football is very popular in northern Mexico.

RE: Question for UTEP fans
That reminds me of my first wife a Mexican national. I took her to my high schools football game early in our marriage. My schools mascot is a fox but in her mind she thought it was a coyote, so she screams "beat the coyotes". It was comical as I had to explain to her that it was a fox, (una zorra) and not a coyote and that we were the ones she was rooting against. LOL

Yes, there was. There was a joke going on that if you couldn't pass in any of the other school they would pass you really easy at Tech.

Seriously, Tech was a predominant technical school where you went there to learn a trade and they were good at teaching it.

actually, they would send most mexican students there, because they couldn't speak ingles.

My mother got her college degree and her masters and she graduated from tech. I just think it is more of race issue than anything else.
