We must do better in OOC Next year
We can sit here all we want and talk about the many positive signs with App's play this year and GS winning the league, but the reality is, because of the OOC results of most of our members this year, the league just looks worse now.

Its simply a must that we go out and start beating other G5 opponents in OOC play next year. Stealing a win from a P5 or two would be nice, but not nearly as important as beating our opponents from the AAC, CUSA, MAC, and MWC. That is where we will ultimately be judged.

No doubt about that. Out of conference is all the rest of the country cares about, especially the P5 games.

We still have the bowl games left to play...

Too bad App State won't get to show how much they have improved in a bowl game, but UL needs to show up make a statement in their bowl game.

I agree so much...beating up on each other but with a terrible OOC does nothing but make us look worse...and with two transitional teams being the top 2 teams in the conference makes us look like an fcs conference..

Well... Looking at Texas State, I see the following thus far:

At Florida State
At University of Houston
Southern Miss at Home
FCS at home

3-1 is VERY attainable. Depending on what Florida State loses to draft/graduation/crab leg theft, we might be able to sneak out of Florida State with a win.

Ours is screaming 1-3. Though, I guess we could win in Toledo in the right circumstance.

@ Toledo
Home vs Missouri State.

I believe we have
@Clemson
Howard
@Old Dominion
Wyoming

I could see anywhere from 1-3 to 3-1.

The WMU game is huge. They will be one of the MAC front-runners next year.

WVU: tough but possible win
W. Micigan: decent shot at a win
El Cid: we would never hear the end of it if we lost
UGA: likely loss but still hoping we can get them one of these times. Really hate those guys.

When do we play Georgia? To quote the Evil Genius, it's always good to get them early in the year... there's bound to be a few suspensions. I won't make any OOC predictions. I thought Navy was going to be our best chance for an FBS OOC win. Oh well...

Toledo is not unbeatable, especially in September when they don't have weather conditions over us, but we will have to play very well to win that game.

Going to be real tough at UGA with Pruitt coaching that defense. He is pretty good at stopping the zone read offense like the one we run.

Fox Sports Radio confused you guys and Charleston Southern today. Kept talking about how Georgia was dominating Georgia Southern.

RE: We must do better in OOC Next year
As proud of my eagles as I am, I have to admit the Belt is down this year. Probably will be forced to bath in eagle creek this weekend for that comment. Anyway, the future looks good. A State and ULL are winning programs that will probably use this season to inspire next year. App and southern will only improve with additional scholarships. Troy will not stay down, couple of years away with the right hire. Texas state is the team to watch in my opinion, I see a good team right now. Not sure about ULM. USA will be tough if they can get out of there own way at times. NMSU is a decent program but has a ways to go. Gotta be tough to recruit there. Idaho and Ga State-no comment. Did I leave out anyone?

Anyway, I'm optimistic the OOC wind will come within two years. With that I mean quality OOC wins.
Sorry for the ramble, the crown/coke is talking.

At least we weren't getting confused with Georgia State...

That happened on Sportscenter yesterday as well.

Two things. First, we need teams to finish games. Texas State had Illinois and let them off the hook. Georgia Southern did the same twice with NC State and Georgia Tech. NMSU lost to New Mexico in the last minute. App State blew a 4th quarter lead to Liberty.

Secondly, the conference leaders need to play better. ULL was not competitive in OOC play. They did not help the conference this year.
