The Eagles have been awesome, for the most part (I know I've seen few offensive performances like they showed me in the Dome)...and they came oh so close against P5 opponents...but in the end, it's all too easy to dismiss it as running through a soft SBC schedule and doing what was expected OOC.

GS is a really good team. They've earned the title if they finish with a win. It's just amazing how unsettled it's actually going to seem to many SBC fans, especially with the annoyance of them being an FCS moveup.

It's all pretty perfect. And only a year to talk it over.

At this point, even if GS had stAte and ULL on the schedule and LOST BOTH, we'd be tied for 2nd in the league, with the head-to-head tiebreaker over App.

Well.....I could live with that.

Time for everyone in the conference to accept Mr. App and Mr. GaSo as FBS teams. You are going to have to do it sooner or later and it'll be a lot easier on you if you just get it out of the way now.

That pretty much the bottom line. Ga Southern fans always felt we could compete in the Sun Belt or CUSA even when we were FCS. Unfortunately saying that really rubs people the wrong way, true or not. And I understand people naturally want new programs to "pay their dues", but that is just not how it is going to work for the Ga Southern and App programs.

Nah... you're not an Eagle. Not the ones I know anyway. Maybe when you get to high school, you'll understand.

People need to also point out that Texas state is playing good ball right now. I hope they get a bowl invite because they might be our best shot at a conference bowl win.

+1 We are not the typical move up and we will never act like it. Sorry scrub programs and bush conference.

RE: CongrAts Appalachian state
Congrats to App State - they were the better team today.

I was really impressed with Cox and Lamb, much like I expected.

Really impressed with their center and guards, they were small but physical.

Impressive SBC debut for the App and Georgia Southern programs. Enjoy it now, because it can come and go pretty quickly, even at the SunBelt level.

Cajuns just need to focus and beat Troy and get ready for the NO Bowl!

PS - I feel sorry for Broadway, watching him physically struggle with throwing the ball and change his mechanics so drastically .... he deserved to go out with a better senior season, one of the toughest players to play QB in the SunBelt history.

I think we already paid our dues when we were knocking our heads against the ceiling of the FCS for 20 years.

Yes. People better start recognizing both school and Texas State, and fast, because this wont be the only time we struggle against those teams.

We brought TX State, App, and GS in to improve the competition in the league so everyone is forced to improve their own programs to catch up. Time to see who follows along.

I liked the App and GaSo adds from the get go because I expected a short ramp up, they sell tix, they fit the model of smaller communities where your choices for entertainment are go to the game or cruise the Sonic.

I liked the TXST add from the get go and never got the infatuation with UTSA over them.

Not a fan of the GaSt add simply because they don't fit the model that has worked for us. I expect their recruiting will improve their play.

Only beef I have is that AState over USU is the best non-conference win this year. That has to change next year.

Exactly right!!!!

OOC wins sure as hell better improve next year - the SBC has been pitiful this year as far as football is concerned.

I had created another thread to offer my kudos to Appalachian State but I did not see that Zee had already started one. You guys win and win with class.

I hope in the future that other schools do not get their panties in a wad if every thread is not about their school.

Congratulations again and welcome to the SBC. 01-ncaabbs

No panty wad. We lost to GS on a bad pass for a pick six but that just evens up the series @ 1-1. One was an FCS playoff run, the other in the SBC. Congrats but.......we're going Bowling

Hope you join us next year.

Guys, by all means keep the conversation going, but it will not be crude, vulgar, and out of control. Any posts out of line will be zapped and warnings issued as needed.

As far as App, they have definitely improved the most. This team looks scary right now, but it's still the same team that lost to Liberty and USM and got drilled by USA. I'm glad we got them when we did.
