OT: The End of Beamer Ball at VT?
VA Tech just lost 6 - 3 to Wake Forecast (now 3 - 8). The game ended 0 - 0 and went to double overtime. I can't imagine Tech fans will be happy if they don't make a bowl this year.

Beamer has sucked for a few years now. Still, let 'em keep choking.

FAU fans should fondly remember the last FBS game to go to overtime 0-0.

RE: OT: The End of Beamer Ball at VT?
VT hasn't had a viable offense since the Michael Vick era; what, 14 years now?
Tech has since survived solely on it's defense.
Consequently, a bad call, a lucky bounce, a busted play; indeed any of a myriad of circumstances that allow an opponent to score can cause the Hokies to lose, no matter the quality of the opponent otherwise.
It is incredible to me that a program with Tech's visibility, conference affiliation, and huge resources, has been unable to build a competitive offense in 14 years.

Until this season, their offense has been simply to plug in a mobile QB and try to recreate Michael Vick. Problem is, a Michael Vick comes along about once every 5 years and can show up anywhere. The other 1,000 mobile style QBs within those 5 years are very ordinary and a dime a dozen.

I think that if VT loses to UVA next week that will be the straw that breaks Beamer's contract.

I have no issue with Beamer, it's the VippySue fans that follow the annual Pavlovian pattern of holding an incredibly high opinion of themselves and their team, losing a game early season, going on a run of a few cupcakes, and then losing again late season in a game that matters.
These folks are unbearable during the weeks of success and full of excuses when they are struggling. I love to see their broken shattered dreams every year, and bask in the glow of their mediocrity.

A lot has changed in 14 years. Football offenses look a lot different now, especially at the HS level. Doesn't surprise me that Beamer's looking a bit out-of-touch. He reminds me a bit of Jeff Bower: a good coach who nevertheless may be headed for a slow, painful slide into obsolescence.
Incidentally, wasn't Beamer's OC during the Vick era Rickey Bustle? It boggles the mind now to think that Beamer/Bustle/Vick dominated CFB back then.

Somehow? Look at the rest of their schedule. Add to that Michigan and a possible B10 championship game. You can't define a season by one game.

My vote would go to either TCU or Baylor.

Beamer hasn't progressed with the game. He needs to go find an OC to go with Foster and let that OC actually implement an offense that will attract talent. They get a lot of talent, but nearly all of it on defense. No reason VT shouldn't win 10 games a year.

In case you haven't noticed, the B1G is crud this year. The only other team the Luckeyes have played is Michigan St., who's equally as overrated.

Virginia Tech has the 2nd longest bowl streak alive right now...21 years. Have to beat UVA to keep that alive

I see 9 bowl eligible teams in the Big 10 right now with 4 in the top 25 and they're "crud"? OK...

Yes, it is. They get lucky that get to schedule a bunch of MAC teams OOC and have one bad team gets to beat up on another in conference. Have you forgotten what everyone was talking about in September?
Ohio State's conference slate: Maryland, Rutgers, Penn State, Illinois, Michigan St., Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan. That's a veritable Murderer's Row right there. They have zero chance.
