Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman,
"If you take 'Toledo' off the front of the jersey and put something else on there, they'd be ranked in the Top 25."
Interesting quote. Obviously, we're getting some well earned respect.

I am glad to see that UT represents all around in most sports compared to other MAC programs that are a real embarassment to the conference outside one or two sports. Funny thing EMU is terrible at football but good at most other sports. NIU is good at football but an embarassment in most other sports.

Except no one else cares about the sports outside the 1 or 2 you refer to.

Toledo's womens sports are highly regarded. Basketball has been slower the past two seasons but hey, could be worse? Glad men's basketball and football are both "respectable" at the same time. I do still take his comment to offense. We are "Toledo," and the quality of team should take precedent over the "name on the front of the jersey." On another note, I don't think we are good enough to be in the top25 just yet. A win in Eugene would probably keep a few votes in the top25. VCU crushed somebody last night!

That attitude has actually become a self fullfilling prophecy at NIU among fans and I have a feeling that recruits, coaches, and everyone else knows it and that is why most NIU sports are in the cellar. The recruits arent coming, the fans are not showing up, the facilities are just average, and the good coaches arent coming or staying (hence your baseball coach leaving for a DII program that has better facilities) Fans at NIU have just given up. Dont shoot the messenger but it looks that way except an occasional good year here and there by one team or another but nothing consistent like what has happened with football. You have to wonder if what happened at NIU is actually an aberration of Joe Novak and if he never came football would be just like every other sport there?

We have an actual men's basketball coach now - last year we were 2 games under .500 and will almost certainly be better this year. Hardly an embarrassment. As long as we have Monty as coach we will at least be decent. So in the 2 major sports that 99% of the population cares about we won't be bad, and in the one we've been better than anyone else in the MAC over the past decade+, and the only one that has garnered national respect.
Volleyball has been pretty good too. Soccer has had a few good years including 2 MAC championships in the past several years. Only Akron really stands out in the entire conference for soccer. Everyone else is pretty well unknown. A few sports that hardly anyone watches drag us down.

Is the game televised tonight? If so, what station will be covering it?

If you get the PAC-12 Network it's supposed to be on there. I don't know if anyone else is showing it.

Wrong. We have sports fans here. Check the thread titles: threads about soccer, xcountry, tennis, golf, football, volleyball, hoops, you name it. What you mean isxthat you don't care. Many of us do.
