"But even that was not all smooth. On the last weekend of the season, the house Hayes was renting caught on fire and he lost all his belongings.

The response from Tiger Nation after the fire floored him, with fans from as far away as Alaska contributing – legal under NCAA rules – to help him replace the furniture and other items that he needed to replace.

“It was an eye-opener,” he said. “Everybody helped me. I kind of look back and go, ‘Man, there have been a whole bunch of ups and downs.’ But I knew everything would work out.”

Brandon is a great kid and has been thru some definite ups and downs but has held true on course.
