Thank you for your bold prediction.
This guy's a real risk taker!
I coached high school football for 20 years and I've coached against some of the recruits UNCC has signed from the coastal area and some of those guys were not D1 caliber recruits. If they keep signing those types of players they will finish last for a number of years. The recruiting needs to step up.
Well, we are not D1 until next year so...........................
It'll take some time but we'll get there. No one is expecting to be bringing in 4 and 5 stars and challenging for conference championships anytime soon.

Old Dominion backed out of nothing. Charlotte cancelled the ODU game only months prior to scheduled date, leaving us to fill the slot with Campbell. Charlotte secured a H/H with JMU, which was likely much more competitive than an ODU game would have been. However, the timing of Charlotte's cancellation of our game will not be forgotten, and was not appreciated.
The agreement changed when ODU was given the invite to CUSA, as per the contract, and Charlotte was the school that decided not to pursue the series.
Charlotte cancelled in 13 because ODU cancelled in 14 because they didn't want to come to Charlotte (FCS) this season. Charlotte simply found a home and home to prevent playing at an FCS in 2015, which is basically what Old Dominion did in 2014.
There shouldn't be hard feelings from either school on this issue.
it's easier to forgive when the other school cancels a year+ in advance, rather than just months before. But, we did find a more competitive game in Campbell, so I guess it worked out.

I mean, we suck, but we're not Campbell bad.

Yeah, I don't think making fun of on field performance is a good idea. Liberty would have beaten us too.
That said though, App is certainly a one trick pony (in both results and support) and that pony no longer has a chance to win national championships (or based on SBC history, even be ranked) to pump the fan base up.

Ask yourselves what has the team up the mountain done since our Liberty loss, then ask the same question of yourselves, what have your Niners done after one of their multiple sub D1 letdowns. Keep the convo on basketball, you guys don't want to compare crotches on the gridiron.

The difference is that Charlotte is a second year program, and the losses mentioned above were all in our Inaugural Year. If I were an App fan, I would be more concerned about elevating my program to the point where it can beat Liberty consistently before I started casting stones at others.

Why is a Crapp State fan ragging on us when your whole AD is a ******* dumpster fire?
Your athletic director left for Georgia State, let that **** sink in while you take your ass back over to the Sun Belt board.
Can't wait to see 3 Crapp State fans show up win when you play us in basketball, then pound your chest about a loyal fanbase.

Golly ....you mean App State after only a 50 year head start (or whatever---really never paid much attention to your little team) is better RIGHT NOW ON THE FIELD than our 2 year old squad......wow, you guys are awesome! Enjoy it while it lasts.

BS.....no one said we would be BETTER than App on the field in the first 2-3 years. NO ONE!!! Now, do we think we're already in a better league (of course, and you know that too) and will we be better eventually (after 4-5 years on the field)? Yep, I think we will.

I'm gonna chalk that one up as an emotional victory. Campbell on paper is the better team, but the first game for a program made UNC-C want to win it more. I feel like during late November when the ODU-UNCc game was scheduled, after a whole season of the Niners battling toe-to-toe with DII and DIII teams, it wouldn't have been as much of a game as the ODU-Campbell game was.

Easiest to troll most delusion fan base award goes to UNCC.
You guys are taking total shots in the dark. I think your current state of affairs is very fitting. The amount of trash you guys spewed when getting football and then making the move to CUSA could never be lived up to. To watch you guys go backwards in year two, only makes it like Christmas for what year three holds. Be worried what Ga State does to you boys in game one. The bottom feeder of the "weak" SBC will put it to you at home worse than any D2 or D3 could ever do. That may be the harbinger of how bad it will truly get for your bunch.

Not only did many of your fans say that, some went so far to say you would be better year one. The CUSA vs SBC debate will never be settled they each have their positives and negatives to membership. To say you guys will be better on the field in 4 to 5 years is optimistic but I hope you guys improve your product. At this point you got nowhere to go but up

I think it's impressive that you have such a raging hard on for Charlotte and C-USA football that you come onto our boards to answer a question asked of our fanbase by a Marshall fan.
The fact is, no Charlotte fan talked about how we would be better than App in the beginning- we all had a lot respect for what ASU has done in Boone. That eroded away when Mountaineer fans felt threatened and realized they may not get into CUSA- then they started talking about how we will always suck, and no one will pull for our team. So our fans became emotional and attacked back. What fan wouldn't. In any regards, we have a couple of chances to settle this in a few years. Hopefully, we will have matured by then and ASU will have found their footing in FBS as well. If not, you'll struggle with attendance as seasons peak and fall, just like the rest of the G5 schools.
As for next year though, I'll be in my usual seats, but I don't expect to leave many games excited about the outcome. Three years in though, I'll still be happy to have 49er Football.

RE: Sorry to be clueless but how is Charlotte football doing this year?

Yes, he did ask a question. One he already knew the answer to and was further exacerbated by the lack of UNCC football posts this year by your fans. You guys knew the answer too, he was obviously trolling you.

It was not a secret we wanted to go FBS, CUSA was a choice we were okay with. The SBC once Ga Southern decided to make the jump was the likely destination and IMHO the better one since they are our biggest rival.
As for no one pulling for your team, it is sure looking like your students aren't so that is looking more true by the day. If you can't get the kids who attend your school and already have paid for the tickets to show....wow you got problems.
That App team "maturing in FBS" is already on track to be bowl eligible this year if it weren't for NCAA transitioning rules. I think it is safe to say we made the move when we were ready to after paying our dues the old fashioned way. We didn't just plop onto the map and say "take me" with our only claim to fame being a city we don't own and aren't exactly even in.

Nice try....what part of still averaging ~4-5000 STUDENTS per game this season do you not understand? It has only been a point of discussion because our Chancellor insisted on giving students wayyy too many seats (7500) in the stadium. Very few teams average more students/game than we are, even now (playing FCS and D2/D3 teams at home).
