I got the schedule off ESPN site. Tell me what should be changed from the list above and I'll change it.

I understand RPI this early probably means nothing but the Belt obviously is not starting very high. We are presently the #31 conference (out of 33) We need to start getting some quality non-conference wins. A number of chances in the next 4-5 days.

Hell, we need to start playing quality non-conference opponents, you get a bigger RPI boost losing to a quality opponent than you get beating some of the teams we are playing.

Agree 100%. I can not understand why my team (Ga. Southern) continually schedules about 3 of these tomato cans per year. This year we have those household names as Trinity College, Johnson University of Florida, and Truett-McConnell College.

We probably voted against it as we seem determined to play 3 of these games per year. At the least I wish all teams would agree to limit it to 1. This is probably in large part why the teams favored playing a 20 game conference schedule--- 10 guaranteed home games.

You guys were not even a glint in our eye. It was passed in 2007 or 2008 as part of the league's goal to improve our profile in all sports. MTSU was one of the big ones pushing for it. 95 percent of those rules are no longer enforced. We basically used it to set requirements to get Denver kicked out, and then went back to ignoring it.

Arkstfan once listed out all of what was passed. I know that one of the rules, if still followed today, would have meant that UTA would not be here, and UALR would be gone.

With 20 conference games, we'd all like to have a good home/road split of the remaining 11 games you can play. It always seemed that to get good teams to come to your gym you needed to be good enough that their RPI didn't take a hit but not too good that they stood a chance of losing. I wish we could schedule more home/home against some of the guys we've played on the road the last couple of years (Baylor, Arkansas, etc).

As for RPI, it would have helped having NMST in the conference for basketball as they have been a perennial top 100 team. Last year only GaST and the Cajuns wound up with a top 100 RPI.

GaSt needs to beat Colorado State. They already got blown out by Iowa State. The best team in the Sun Belt, probably by far based on last season, needs to be able to beat a good but not great Mountain West team if were are going get any recognition nationally.

Knew I would find them somewhere:

Basketball Scheduling Requirements circa 2007:

1. Half of OOC games must be at home or at a Neutral Site
2. No Non Division I games without written approval from the league office, and those games must be at home if approved.
3. No more than two "Money games"

Basketball attendance requirements:

1. Teams must grow season ticket sales to equal 25 percent of the arena's capacity (Men) 15 percent of capacity (Women)
2. Men's basketball should grow to average roughly 50 percent of arena capacity.

Other Stuff:

Teams must play 6 home football games every other year minimum.
FCS games must be played at home. Only one per year allowed max.
Two Money games per year Max.
Football attendance was supposed to equal 75 percent of a school's capacity

Expansion:
No Affiliate memberships
All future members must sponsor football, Mens and Women's basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball or soccer.
All current members must sponsor 15 Sun Belt Sports minimum.

(There was a two year grace period to reach compliance with scheduling and membership requirements)

The report and study were voted down quietly by the conference 1 year after they were passed, mostly because people complained. All the study effectively did was kick Denver and New Orleans out, like we had been trying to do for a while.

after looking good beating Bradley on their home court, we have been unable to find the basket. only shot 38% at GCU last night. there were many times we could have put the game away were it not for poor shooting. thank goodness we had a big edge in rebounding..

I think they're the least interesting games on the schedule, and they may hurt conference perception when evaluating SOS by eye, but don't non-D1 games at least not hurt RPI? Seems like it'd be better to schudule a non-D1 than a low-RPI opponent.

I think there is a quantity component to it but I think they do drop it from your win column when evaluating you at the end of the year.
