Bucknell was playing Villanova very tough last night. Didn't see a final.

Detroit lost by 9 at Michigan. Also watched the Detroit/Oregon game. The Titans have some talent, but couldn't stay with Oregon in the second half. Oregon graduated five seniors, had two transfer and two or three kicked off the team. Oakland lost to WMU by 11 at home.

Moral victories suck. In football NIU finds a way to win even though they aren't very good this year. For us the last 4 years we'll kick your butt on first and second down, 3rd and 14, no problem we won't even think about punting.
In basketball we make the dumb pass or give up the NBA three point range shot that allows a team to keep it close. Every time we started to pull away last night, they were the team to hit a big shot. Last year we horribly defended the 3 point line or for some reason teams shot lights out from three range against us. Last night we screw ourselves in the end to lose a very winnable game. If Jon John or Lauf have an average offensive game we might have won?
Complaints aside, I thought the Rockets looked really calm under pressure in a pretty rowdy environment on the road. They didn't look flustered and went blow for blow with a very athletic and ranked team. We'll take our lumps earlier in the season this year, but by the late MAC season and tourney time I think we'll be peaking. Garber is going to get better, Jon Jon will have found his shot, we get Applewhite in midseason with fresh legs, Stucky won't be a raw freshman. Not sure if we have the killer instinct that last year's team was missing, but I like the "we got this" attitude I saw last night.
Considering the men's bball team was 9-0 in games decided by four points or less last season, I would say that they are capable of finishing games
