A ton of teams played their second match today. A bunch will play a 3rd match on Tuesday when we open. IS there are reason for this?

Coach Pastner knew CBU was a good team with a good coach and had to have time for the team to recover before starting the regular season

JP has started every season slow when it comes to wins...I guess by the end of the season they figure out how to play as a team by on-the-court experience

Pastner said before the game that there wasn't going to be any game plan because it would be a waste of time. The Tigers would never play another team like that the rest of of the year. He said there would be no specific rotation because he wanted to see what all the players could do on their own.
That said, after the game he also said he was embarrassed and pissed that they were so crummy.
Don't expect a repeat.

Pastner set us up to get ambushed at Oklahoma State last year and we definitely could have used another home game before today.

Neutral court might help the young'uns ........ sometimes a big home crowd can make them more jitterish <---pressure to perform

I'm with the OP. This is so strange. Most schools have already played 3 to 4 games. CJP knew that we were going to have 10 new comers & yet he didn't shedule up to give them experience. Instead he warmed them up against probably the most experienced team in college basketball. To me, cjp is proving to not know how to run a program at all. In scheduling, hiring of assistants, game planning, building a team with the "right" players, public relations, disciplinary weirdness....it all seems to have unraveled on him. About the most successful thing he's done is continue cal's goal of destroying every natural rival we have.

Yes the scheduling was odd and with all the newcomers would have preferred a series of softer games as well...but odd timing for the downer contribution on a night when our football team just went to 8-3 and the local billy schools mostly all got or are getting the poo kicked out of them.
