Marshall 13-0
Louisiana Tech 8-5
Rice 7-5
Middle Tennessee 7-5
Western Kentucky 6-6
UTEP 6-6

UAB 6-6
Old Dominion 6-6

We have 5 slots, correct? UAB and ODU would be out because of their wins against FCS competition. Marshall not getting in would leave UTEP and WKU at the bottom for the fifth slot. What happens vis-a-vis those two? My guess is that they would try to get WKU east as a fill in and leave UTEP with the New Mexico Bowl.

Sorry if this has been previously rehashed.

Is there a rule that states teams with all FBS wins will be taken over a team with a fcs win on its resume if there was a lack of slots? I don't feel good about our shot at a bowl game unless it's Hawaii since no team would bring fans due to expense and we are a fun team to watch

I'm fairly confident that that's the rule, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm sure someone here knows more than I do about the subject.

If there is such a rule, then it's a conference rule. There have been plenty of 7+ win teams passed over for 6 win SEC schools and they all play FCS schools

ODU gets to go only if there are not enough qualified teams. Lets hope that too few teams qualify so the Monarchs can go bowling too.

I think you're right about filling non-contract spots.

"Starting with the 2010–11 bowl season, the rule that required the selection of seven-win teams before any 6–6 teams was eliminated."

I swear I saw the 6-6 rule somewhere, but I can't find it. It would make sense, since you'd think a team with 6 FBS wins would be more deserving than one with 5 wins. But, that doesn't seem to jive with the above rule. Maybe I need to realize that cents matters more to the NCAA than sense.

C-USA places 7 win teams first but there is no longer an NCAA rule. MT can get win #7 next week which would give them the edge on WKU, UTEP, and possibly UAB.

Deserving has nothing to do with it.

RE: Bowl Analysis - Week 12
I know there are a lot of "if"s between now and then, but I would love to play and beat Miss St in the Peach Bowl. They were #1 most of the year. To beat them would be a very sweet revenge on the committee for any perceived affronts throughout the course of rankings. It's a tall order for all of that to fall into place, let alone win that game, but if I'm wishing, that would be it.

I don't think Temple becomes bowl eligible next week vs Cincinnati. Will that be an extra bowl for CUSA?? The American does have 6 slots right??

They may not become bowl eligible next week, but I think they'll have a pretty good shot at it two weeks from now against Tulane.

ODU has only 1 FCS win, with FAU left on the schedule. Only 1 FCS win can be counted towards bowl eligibility.

RE: Bowl Analysis - Week 12
As of today there are 73 teams that are bowl eligible. There are 76 bowl slots including the four playoff spots. There is a high likelihood of 9 more teams becoming bowl eligible. I am sure every bowl will take a team from a P5 conference over a G5 conference team. Here are P5 teams everyone in CUSA should be rooting against over the next two weeks:
California at home against BYU
Pittsburg at Miami
Kentucky at Louisville
Tennessee at Vandy

We should also be rooting against these teams from the G5
Fresno St. at Hawaii
Akron at Kent State
Ohio at Miami of Ohio
Temple at home against Cincinnati this week
Temple at Tulane next week.

If all of those play out then there would be 76 teams to fill all 76 spots. I am counting UAB and ODU as part of the 76 teams. There is still a decent chance that CUSA can send 8 teams to bowls.
