RE: Bowl Projections: Does SBNation have issues with CMU?
Quote:I showed you that those rules you cited on Wiki were outdated (and no longer apply) four years ago.

Wiki was pointing out what was before -- and pointed out the elimination of the rule that caused the 8-4 Temple team not to go. Again, it's not an 8-4 Temple being left out for a 6-6 CMU instead, which is the point of this.

For all Practical purposes -- no, a 6-6 team is not going to be assigned its conference bowl tie-in to one of it's bowls leaving a 7+ team behind. 6-6 Akron isn't going to be chosen over 7-5 CMU. There are rules about 6-6/5-7/6-7 teams going to fill in spots and who has precedence over who there -- but yes, they are allowed to grab a 6-6 UCLA over a 8-4 CMU if there happens to be so few bowls around.

But my point is -- no, a conference isn't going to leave a 7-5 team behind while putting a 6-6 team in one of it's remaining available slots instead. The only Controversy about something related to that is putting the 6-6 team in a Great bowl, while placing the 7-5/8-4 in a sh!tty remaining one (which is a different story) -- and even then, conferences like the ACC have preventative rules against that sort of thing.
