RE: Number of bowl eligible/ineligible teams
Temple is basically removing themselves from the bowl picture without any help from Tulane. If this is how well they play to earn a bowl bid, there's not a single committee that would insult their city by bringing a team there after this type of performance.

Temple qualifies, 10-3, but if they get a bid, 4 other teams should scream bloody murder.

Looks like the AFB was ready to take us but OU had to go and mess that up. They had us "penciled" in last year until we blew the last 3 games. 03-banghead

Ignoring the fact that we have the #2 scoring D in the country behind Ole Miss and the #26 D in total D.

No one thinks our offense is good, but ignoring the fact that our defense is pretty elite is asinine and disrespectful. Not at all saying we're as good as them, but why is it that teams like Oregon, Arizona, etc. are given credit for good offense when they have horse **** defense, but the reverse isn't given the same credit?

RE: Number of bowl eligible/ineligible teams
Jerry Palm updated his bowl projections.......

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...redictions

He is showing Temple and Texas State out but Ohio in. It has to do with how the secondary agreements are structured.

MAC secondaries work like this:

1. Poinsettia Bowl
2. Any spot that is open in one of the 11 ESPN bowls.
3. Quick Lane Bowl

The AAC has backup agreements in place with the Liberty, Independence and San Diego if the MAC can't supply one. The Poinsettia isn't open this year. Liberty is a higher level B12/SEC tilt. Independence Bowl maybe if UNC or USC backs out.

Does Ohio deserve a bowl over Temple or Texas State? Ohio was 2-1 in November with the only loss by 7 to Northern Illinois. The school also finished a clear #2 in the MAC East division going 4-1 against divisional opponents.

Temple finished 6th in the AAC. In 2010 Ohio beat Temple for a spot in the New Orleans Bowl when both schools finished with 8 wins. In 2012 Ohio grabbed the Independence Bowl away from La Tech and was selected in 2013 for St. Pete over Toledo. The AD at Ohio knows how to sell his school.

The SBC I don't believe has a guaranteed backup clause with the ESPN bowls like the MAC does. That is the main thing keeping Texas State out of a bowl game. SBC has a lot of fresh football faces in an environment of constant realignment the past 5 years.

That's nice but the fact is the AAC has more regular bowls than the MAC or SBC so the secondary agreements are less, at least when compared to the MAC.

The opening is in Ft. Worth to play Houston. Ohio is in at 6-6 to play one of the top G5 programs.

The MAC has several secondary bowl agreements. These are strong contracts. They come into play EVERY year. Most are clueless about these ties yet they kill the SBC AND other G5 conferences EVERY season. Most are not public(as far as I know). I dislike it-but you have to admit they have great "aces" in the hole. They usually get 1-3 SIX win teams in bowls every year.

Beat Georgia Southern at your place or beat USA and you go bowling. Looks like the only problems you should have lie with your own team.

No guarantee that if we had beat Georgia Southern we'd be bowling.

If everything else played out as it did here, we would be going bowling, as USA would be ineligible.

The only way I'd complain about not getting to a bowl is if a team that had nothing on us other than location got invited.

If we were 8-4, I'd be pissed that a USA (6-6) got a bowl, particularly if we beat them (obviously not speaking about this season, just in general).

I already hated Oklahoma... just gives me another reason.

well. it was a fun season... good luck to our bowl attendees and a big FU to the belt bowls for overlooking us.

All I want for Christmas is a CUSA invite.

I guess this is kind of like what was said to the newest guys. Win the whole thing so you have to go and prove you will show up for a bowl. If you can't do that quit crying. Or get out leave run off. You have to have it handed to you. You want to gripe about USA fine. They are like you. UL and stAte have proved ourselves in the one thing the bowls want ...fans that go to the games. It also sounds like USA is doing the same thing. You won't get in over UL and stAte and USA is local. I really believe there are more crying fans on here that I have ever heard. Still hope you are GIVEN a bowl tomorrow.

I can't believe a ASU fan is telling someone to stop crying...

if anyone wants to see just what crying is... ASU fans wrote the book on it. They called this conference every thing you could think of and then a few to top it off. Threaten to leave and anything else you can think of.

You spent WAY too much time on a message board looking for those posts, making screen caps, turning them into photos and then posting them.

There are more productive things to do with your life than this... Like watching paint dry.

Boise State has the Access Bowl wrapped up, but at least the other Group of Five champions get to go bowling. Georgia Southern was let down by the NCAA, a conference champion denied a postseason appearance by the rules. Click here to read all my thoughts on the subject...
