What did I miss?
They do realize this was a team that is 2-25 in its last 27 games, right?
Quote:If you didn't like that game, you don't like exciting football. Congratulations to our fighting Chippewas. Tireless effort. Great heart.
Quote:Did Dan Enos finally take that step? Yes, as in every game there were misques, but this was a must win. This was a game that Coach hasn't been able to come up with. That game when everything is on the line. Coach finally got there.
Quote:Miami was not horrible today. CMU was not horrible today.

RE: What did I miss?
We walked into Oxford and cruised to a win. CMU struggled with them at home. Miami has won 2 games in 2 years. CMU has a 5th year coach and the most returning starters in the nation. They are truly delusional and I hope Enos stays there forever.

Needless to say I disagree with all of that. We almost got caught with our dick in our hand.

RE: What did I miss?
They have NOTHING to brag about or to feel upbeat about, especially with WMU coming into their town next weekend. That's crazy.
Now, to be fair, Miami DOES have a passing offense. They can challenge teams on O when they're bringing their A game. With a new coach, ND transfers, etc -- they may always not (like against us, Akron, E Kentucky).
They challenged Marshall the most of any of Marshall's games -- and they went toe-to-toe with Cincinnati, too. Two upper-level G5s that arguably would win the MAC by most analysts.
What got me is CMU giving up more yards to Miami than they got themselves. Sure, give up 27 points to Miami -- not the worst thing in the world given that's their only sole strong-suit if they bring a good O game. But scoring only 34 points and not at least getting more yards on them? NIU and WMU scored a combined 92 points on them.
But with CMU's #1 MAC D, and with a Miami O on all cylinders, CMU at home should have won: 41-24

RE: What did I miss?
Speaking of things that were missed. The officials missed two pass interference calls at the end.
Seriously, Martin is an idiot. He was on the one, had two time outs, a QB with wheels, and he goes empty backfield and passes. Genius, how did we miss out on him.

I'm going to assume that's sarcasm. CMU got like 3 PI calls in a row at the end of the game.

Ironic, isn't it? It was only a few weeks ago that we were told by various folks that Western made a mistake by not taking either Creighton or Martin, both of whom were reputed to be coaching savants. No one knows the future, but the choice of PJ looks solid in the present.

Yes they did, and they missed two others. Even the announcers said they blew the calls. Those DB's couldn't cover a pillow.

RE: What did I miss?
The latest...
Quote:I loved that game. I could feel the hunger in the guys. I could see the effort on the field. You can poo poo Miami if you want, but Martin had them ready. They had two weeks, just like us, to game plan. He has a great grad student qb (think Rawls) and a Notre Dame transfer at TE (meet Tony Annese young man). They had a speed back. They have improved greatly from week one when they were trying to find themselves and figure out what they had in the shed. Again, if you didn't like that win, you must be a synchronized swimmer.
I'm beginning to think this is a Nate Schneider account... ?

Yeah, he's had that ND grad student QB and TE combo all year, and he usually got lit up. It's not like CMU was playing them in Oxford on Miami's homecoming.
Miami was inside the CMU five yard line three times and came away with no points because they have ZERO running game other than the QB. Good luck keeping Franklin out of the end zone if he gets inside the five that many times.
They're just trying to polish that turd. This was a much bigger turd than the BSU game. BSU has far more talent than Miami, and they aren't a one dimensional attack.
