Damn, UConn BBall could be even better...
Just looking over teams in the conference and UConn brings in 3 players anyone would love to have. Purvis transfer from NC State, Sam Cassell's kid who was a top Juco and the SG Hamilton. You throw that on top of the experience still left from last years team. Sick. You guys may suck in football but that basketball program produces! Good for the conference.

If the roles are defined and accepted the team has a chance to be excellent - assuming Nolan or Brimah can give quality minutes at the 5.
UConn football will be back. We've only sucked for 4 years in our entire history luckily. Diaco may be insane, but he appears to have a plan.

Would be very very nice to see UCONN and SMU make deep runs into the NCAA this year. Excited for AAC hooops!

Problem for you in football is outside of your control (same for baseball), the weather. Basketball is king up North in the high school and college ranks, so weather has no effect on recruits. In the South football rules and no top kid is going up North to freeze his butt off and the better players up North in football can't be blamed for wanting to come South to play in warm weather. (damn that is one long run on sentence) Happens every year and isn't going to change. But I'm sure all of us would gladly trade places with you guys to say we are defending national champions.

Football was born in the cold and mean to be played in the cold.
UConn in its first decade in the BE produced more NFL players than all other teams in the BE (including Louisville and West Virginia and USF) except for Rutgers. 23+.
Contrary to what people tell you, good players from the north sometimes stay in the north. Enough to field a decent team. Heck, Boise somehow lured LA kids to that tundra up there.

I would tamper expectations for this Uconn team. Boatright is a stud, and I hope Brimah develops into the eventual NBA player he will become.
But 3 new guys, no matter how talented, will be difficult to incorporate. And then you do have the problem with lack of big guys.
UConn can hope to develop the 3 new guys and then HOPE that Jalen Adams comes in next year to give us a good bit of what Boatright is giving us, because with Adams and possibly Diamond Stone coming in, on top of Hamilton and the others, that's a team with NC level talent.
I think UConn finishes second at best to SMU this year.

Nebraska feasted for years off kids from California and Florida. UConn has recruited Florida somewhat.
The weather only gets cold (temps in the 40's) the second half of November. September and October are beautiful. The temp difference between Dallas and Hartford averages 15 degrees, so when it's 90 in Dallas, it's 75 in Hartford. And when it's 50 in Dallas, it's 35 in Hartford. It's not like Hartford is Siberia.
