It's interesting to see how everybody's schedule stacks up. For instance, Marshall's opponents to date have won 29 games, whereas LA Tech's opponents to date have won 46 games. That's quite a difference. However, Marshall has played 9 games whereas LA Techs played 10. But 17 wins is still quite a difference.

If we go ahead and throw this week's Rice game in the mix for Marshall's schedule (so that both teams include 10 opponents), then Marshall is left with an opponent schedule that includes 35 wins to date, whereas LA Tech's still includes 46 wins.

True, but you guys, like us, have only BEATEN one team with a winning record (UTEP/MTSU) and LOST to an FCS opponent. I'm not trying to cut at you, but I'm sure the reason you're not ranked higher is largely due to that.

Both ULL (6-3) and UTEP (5-4) have winning records today on LA Tech's schedule. So, that's two, not one. Also, UAB had a winning record until we beat them last Saturday. I believe they are now 5-5. Plus, WKU had a winning record until we beat them the previous week. Again, these are all teams that LA Tech beat.

It's really no comparison. Especially if I throw in the Auburn and OU schedules.

So what? They don't have winning records now and likely will not...and you didn't BEAT any of the P5 teams...Is your schedule stronger??? Yes...but it has no bearing on the quality of a team however...

I disagree. First, you were wrong about the number of teams on LA Tech's schedule that have winning records that LA Tech has beaten. Secondly, if we compare both schools' 2014 schedules thru the first 10 games, the fact that LA Tech's opponents have won 46 games total, while Marshall's opponents have only won 35 (and that includes giving you the Rice game) it's a huge indicator that Marshall hasn't played a schedule near as tough as Tech's. Then again, we already KNEW that. 03-lmfao

If you can't see that, you need to buy some glasses.

Quick observation: isn't the idea the teams aren't comparable a bit dense as you comment on a computer ranking that has compared the teams? It may not be the outcome you desired, but these teams have been compared. If we include the Coaches, AP, ESPN Power Index, and numerous other rankings, many comparisons have been made. The source of your angst isn't the inability to compare the teams--it's the results of that comparison.

Marshall is undefeated and has barely been tested, it does not matter if your schedule is tougher.

Take back the FCS loss and you may have a marginally better argument, but alas, no one is going to buy you as a better team than Marshall until you beat them. Even you said Marshall probably wins.

So what are we arguing? That because Tech played a tougher schedule that they are closer to Marshall than some might suggest(but still not as good)?

If it makes you feel better fine, but I never suggested Marshall would steamroll Tech. If that game is played in Huntington Marshall wins comfortably, not by the margin they have been winning, but I don't expect the game to be in doubt in the fourth.

I fail to see why La Tech fans keep hating on Marshall's schedule. Do your job and you will get your shot to beat Marshall. Simple as that.

Throw out all the wins of teams that you've lost to and then make the comparison. We haven't lost yet, so including wins from teams you didn't beat seems hardly relevant.

Marshall will beat La Tech by 30+ points in the CUSACG if they make it. Then whomever we play in our bowl game can talk schedule smack for a month . . .

The difference between La Tech and Marshall is that we know for a fact that La Tech can't beat top teams and got out scored 93-33 in two tries. But congrats on padding your "wins by opponents" stat.

How can South Alabama be ranked so high, ahead of Arkansas for example, considering who they have beaten? 04-jawdrop
Makes you think twice about the validity of these rankings.

You wanna sling mud, sling it at you AD as he put together your craptastic schedule. It has been well documented that if Marshall had ONE P5 opponent on the schedule the point would be moot. Wanna hate on our NWST loss go ahead, but don't bag on LA Tech for losing to Oklahoma and Auburn.
