Quote:Let's pretend your child's team (remember, you're about to be a parent) was leading the Rocket Football league
What abusive parent from WMU would have the audacity to have their child lead a Rocket team? That's child abuse to be associated with the Rockets... (shudder). Next it'll be the Chippewas??
Quote: But on this day they have a new kid. This kid is bigger and stronger than all the other kids. He is known for cheating at school, and he was just let out of the juvenile home for stealing an old ladies purse.
Ehhh, he's a kid. He thought it was a toy... or stuffed full of unnecessary stuff it looked like the shape of a football, and it was leather... :)
Quote:Now age the teams and that purse stealing 4th grader by 12 years and instead of 10 and 11 year olds they're 22 and 23 year olds. Is it still excusable? Are they just kids?
Wait, wait. You're supposed to ask -- "Would you rather have your son play their last game WITH that kid, or without?"
Answers:
a) The victory would be the sweetest with him in, and we still beat them
b) The loss would be more devistating with him out, and we lose to them
c) The loss would be more acceptable with him in, and we lose to them
d) The victory would still be sweet with him out, and we beat them
IMO, he already got disciplined earlier in the season -- but LIGHT on the football side of it. I like light sentences and Probation for 1st time offenders. But on the football side of it, he hid it from the coaches. He should have gotten more than 2 OOC game suspension, from the looks of it. I would have made it 4-6 games (1/3 - 1/2 the season). Minimum 3 game if he did come forward and he was purely the associate and associated with bad apples along for the 'ride' (and didn't take any purse or use any credit cards).
OK, we have a light "sentence" on the field for someone on probation. Happens. But we shouldn't ask for an INJURY (just no sympathy for a non-dibilitating one).
