In all seriousness the humanoid mascots live in the uncanny valley and are quite creepy. And the St. Louis Billiken looks like a gremlin. But Big Red rocks.

Big Red does everything you want a mascot to do. He has national recognition, kids want to hug it, opposing fans want their picture taken with him, Italian TV shows want to infringe on his copyright.
