I agree that Ohio is not a trash program. I'm very familiar with Ohio and Frank Solich. But, the Bobcats are 4-5 so far this year. Not exactly setting the world on fire.

Agreed, they're not that good this season, but have been pretty darned good for a while. Which is kind of what folks have hung their hats on in regards to MU's schedule: that they don't play anyone. Just seems like a perfect storm of teams that were good when scheduled aren't very good this season. Miami(OH), traditionally a power in the MAC and champ when MU scheduled them have become one of if not the worst teams in 1A football. Ohio, tough the last 7 yrs., goes in the tank. I've got nothing on the 1-AA team, Lville' backed out at the last minute and they were all that our AD said would say yes to coming to MU on such short notice. The last qtr. of the season MU will get a bump in SOS regardlessly of how things shake out, good or ill for the Herd. Will get to play the better CUSA teams Rice/and potentially LaTech, an improved UAB and USM. We'll take it, whichever it may be. Stuff happens. Still could lose a game or 2 based on teams that are/might be in front of the Herd. Can't wait, love the conference and its future. It's only going to get better/tougher.

Frank Solich won a few fans over down in Louisiana 2 years ago when he took his Ohio team to the 2012 Indy bowl --the bowl that a 9-3 LA Tech was supposed to play in-- and beat the crap out of ULM. LA Tech fans loved it. ULM should have never been invited to that bowl game, and we enjoyed seeing both ULM and the Indy bowl get what they really deserved. Ohio won big.

Naaah. We won the WAC twice, and it was a much higher rated football conference than CUSA.

While a cry for humility is USUALLY directed at you HD, I'm pretty sure Shifty was talking about Marshall in your quoted section there.

Manny Diaz has proven to be a smart hire as defensive coordinator, boosting Louisiana Tech from ninth to first in scoring defense in Conference USA games, dropping the average from 26.6 to 14.8 points per game. In conference play only, the Bulldogs lead the league in total defense, yards per play allowed and pass efficiency defense while ranking second in rushing defense.

Manny Diaz was a GREAT defensive coordinator at MT and MissSt. Got the scapegoat ax at Texas (to save Mack Brown's Butt 1 more year). Best thing to happen to LaTech in years! If LaTech wins the West his defense will keep them in the Championship Game with Marshall until the end!

I would agree. Manny has won a lot of fans in Ruston and to give credit where it is due. The Middle Tennessee fans said he would.

BTW why would SMU want Mack Brown anyway? Have the seen his record in the last 3 years?

After this weekends events --with Marshall giving up 67 points to a WKU team that scored only 10 on LA Tech-- the post above looks pretty silly. Congrats banker!! 03-lmfao

First Tech is ranked higher than UTEP and beat UTEP. Tech may have lost to NSU but the stomping of ULL is probably the conferences best out of conference win. I know I just threw up a little in my mouth writing that. Nothing wrong with UTEP playing but you guys want to go to the access bowl you need to have some wins against the top 50. UTEP could get there but TECH is already there in the rankings.

Secondly because Tech will kick the living crap out of Marsha. This last line is tongue in cheek. D wins championships and TECHS is the best in CUSA. TECH vs. MU for the championship would be huge. A rematch with Rice or a game against UTEP would be meh. Tech will be top 40 and the highest rated opponent MU plays.

Marsha better beat Rice or none of this matters.

Why do you keep saying tech has the best defense in cusa? There is nothing to support that. You can say tech has the best rush defense in cusa, because marshall is better in pass defense, scoring, and total defense (playing 3rd string in the 4th quarter in 5 of 8 games and giving up 2 other td drives late in 4th with 3rd string)

....and lets not forget this "goherd" guy either.....maybe he can supply us with some updated "defensive" stats now. 03-lmfao

C-USA games only: (we don't have to talk about Marshall's Schedule).

LA Tech: 14.8 points/game - UTEP, WKU, UNT, USM, UTSA

Marshall: 16.75 points/game - ODU, MTSU, FIU, FAU

Now, take out 7 vs ODU, 7 vs MTU, 7 vs FIU, and recalculate. Because Marshall actually isnt in dogfights in every game, ?? so the 3rd string allows tds in trash time. That takes us down to about 11 pts a game.

I still say MTU beats La Tech straight up. UTSA and UNT, offensive juggernauts. And you talk about our SOS?

We will beat you worse than auburn or OU and i can't wait to hear how you just had an off game when we tally up 600 yds against your vaunted defense. FIU is a much better defense than Tech.

...and lets not forget that this guy "goherd24" just wouldn't quit.....03-lmfao

It's SHOWTIME!
