RE: Trent Miles
Way too many injuries for an already thin team. I've only seen two GA St. games this year, AC and App and can't imagine this team being competitive vs. ULL and others, but they were.

The defense is terrible, but down three starters which may be part of the issue.

The Oline is big and the QB has been good in other games. I think you guys are a RB away from having a decent offense, but five or six players on defense away from being able to stop folks.

Going to take at least two more recruiting years to get above .500 in the conference. Not sure Miles makes it that long though.

We understood that it might take a while because the situation was so bad. (Remember, we were one of the worst FCS teams in the nation in 2012!) Somewhere, that hope for faster results became an expectation if CTM was doing his job. We have to give him next year to see if what he's doing is making its mark for the positive.

Another win this year would sure make that wait easier to stomach. If we're still this bad at this point next year...CTM was not what we needed...

EDIT: BTW, this is one of the lowest points I've felt in terms of despondence over the future of our football team. I can't imagine ever not supporting them, but that prospect is sadder today than most. This will be so much easier in 20 years when we can say, "We just need a couple of recruiting cycles and we can be back where we were in [insert season we did well]." We just need to make things happen so we eventually have that season we do well...

I guess I am a bit confused. You said it took him 3 years at I-StAte yet only give 2 at GSU. A team that was a bad FCS team moving up in classification. Seems to me it may take more than 3 years under those circumstances. Of course if it was my team I might have a different outlook.

I think Cobb brings in his own guy unless Miles wins some games down the stretch. If they don't beat Troy. I think he's gone.

RE: Trent Miles
Miles needs time to build this dumpster fire. He just doesn't have the horses and with the injuries it has made it worse. He caught App at exactly the wrong time; App has finally figured out their identity, is surprisingly healthy for this time of year, coming off a bye week, and weather than only a Mountaineer would love. Give him 3 years to see what he can do. The same thing with Satterfield at App.

State has so many injuries because their strength & conditioning is a joke. Something Cobb has to fix before any coach is successful there. Only way they start winning games is by getting more physical. I've seen water balloon fights more physical than their D-line.

I still like Trent to an extent, but that 3 timeout call at the end of the first half definitely didn't make him any fans in Boone

That's probably the best view to take. He should have at least 3 FBS wins next year to save his job.

Considering he should have four this season, I don't think the dogs get called of with 3-9. His first class are Juniors in 2015. No more excuses.

RE: Trent Miles
How much attrition have you seen the last two years?

App saw quite a bit in between 2011 and 2012 and then again in 2012 and 2013, but should be fully recovered next year with two years redshirted the majority of our classes.

RE: Trent Miles
Quite a bit in the last 4 years period. Probably the largest number of Medical DQs due to concussions anyone has ever seen. There is no doubt that Becker, Cobb and Miles need to have the meeting of all meetings in the next couple of weeks. There is a lot to fix quickly this offseason. We simply cannot afford another season like this me. And we need tougher linemen on both sides of the ball. I dont doubt OG Alex Stoehr or LB Joe Peterson's toughness. But everyone we recruit on the OL and defensive front seven needs to have that pedigree. I mentioned yesterday that OL usually dream of a day like yesterday. It's their day to be Viking marauders. I didn't see that. Another thing that troubles me is when you see say RSo players who have gained maybe 8 pounds since setting foot on campus. That has to be addressed. I am not there to know what they are doing wrong but they ARE doing something wrong. I imagine by season end that Cobb will have 3 months on campus to have made assessments of what needs to change. Getrdone.

Cobb may not have the answer to everything, but he does know football and will have a heavy hand this offseason in personnel decisions on your staff.

I expect him to fix the non staff issues. The are some short term (24 month) issues that need to be addressed. I expect Miles to evaluate his staff. I expect Becker to talk to whomever he needs to get JUCO paperwork in and processed before Christmas.

I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about trent miles accepting an assistant job at another school at the end of the season.

he's gonna realize that the wins won't come rollin in next year and get out before he gets dumped on his head. it's gonna be such a big job to win there and cobb is gonna want his man for the job.

hail southern

Can't fire him before year three at minimum. No one else with any pride or semblance of ability would go there knowing that two years and done at one of the most barren cupboards in all of football is the norm.

I doubt that. He is a it more invested than McGee was at UAB. Unless he tells Becker and Cobb that he needs A, B and C and he is told no way. Then I could see that scenario of an exit. More likely we will have a new DC.
