There is no shorter stick than rushing for 100+ yds, 200+ on at least two occasions, and getting maybe 5 carries the following game...if that. I get theoretically being talented enough to be playing more, but to actually play, dominate, then get benched is just, well, it reveals the character of the person making that call.
Right, if I remember correctly both Burks and White was hurt, and Elliott rushed for 100+ three games straight and lost carries to both White and Burks. Thats when we had a four headed monster (Chaney) similar to what mtsu has now, and houston had in 2.0.

RE: Jordan Howard ranks 14th in rushing
I sat with Elliott's dad during the monsoon game, and he was really angry with FBHC W. Brown who he said had repeatedly assured him that his son would get more carries that year. Instead, he was constantly used as a decoy in the full house backfield and seldom touched the ball.
According to his dad, Elliott had broken many of Emmit Smith's Florida HS rushing records, but Brown would never use him as a main RB. He had wanted his son to transfer, but his son never would go for it. Having Burks, White and Elliott in the same backfield was one reason I suggested to Brown that UAB could use a form of the wishbone Navy was using at the time to get to 3 consecutive bowl games ( I think that Navy FBHC is still at GA Tech today). Brown insisted on using QB Williams as though he was a new Hackney and regularly called about 50 passing plays per game while Elliott seldom got the ball.
