I think it gives a little too much weight to conference championships personally.

That was my third biggest complaint.

My second biggest complaint was recognizing "pre-tournament" championships that were awarded many years later. I've always considered these fictional championships. IMO, you can count the record but not the championship, if it wasn't settled on the court.

My biggest complaint was that they are still counting all of UNC-CHeat's championships, wins, etc. May as well go ahead and throw an asterisk on those.

Well how else do you want them to factor in 60-65% of a teams games? If you just left it up to post season play...

that's been slanted heavily towards the BCS conference since we went to 64. Some people look at what a conference is today and project that back through history. Which doesn't reflect a true picture in any way. The OVC for example..

during the 50s, 60s, 70s it wasn't uncommon to have 2 or 3 schools good enough to be in the polls or in today's terms at the top of others receiving votes. I'm not saying it was close to being a power conference...it wasn't. But the OVC back in the day would be WAY ahead of where CUSA is today.

It's just a lot of points to award when so many small time leagues have one dominant power that realistically wouldn't have nearly as many points if they played in even a mediocre conference.

Davidson for example has always had a respectable basketball program, but they played in, and dominated one of the worst basketball conferences for a long, long time. Same goes for Princeton.

They're solid basketball programs, but they're not top 50 or top 25 level conferences like this ranking list has them.

Less points need to be given for conference championships and more points need to be given for tournament appearances and performance in the tournament.

There's no way on God's green Earth Texas Tech is considered a better basketball school than UTEP. They give WAY to much cred to conference championships.

I think the more appropriate question is how is Idaho State, who hasn't been to a Tourney since 1987 or won a game since 1977, tied with us?
