WTH?
I know it's early and I'm only halfway finished with my first cup of coffee but what does this guy mean by 27 FBS schools in Georgia?

"Georgia State (—)

126. Just how many FBS teams are there in Georgia? By my count, 27. And that’s one too many. The woeful Panthers picked up their one win this season against Abilene Christian. By a point. Yuck. They are coming off a 69-31 loss to Georgia Southern. GSU (is it OK to call it that?) tries to move out of the B-5 with a winnable game Saturday at Appalachian State."

I guess he is a product of "leave no child behind."

Yeah, but the implication seems to be that Georgia has too many. Of all states...really? Clearly this guy's been paying attention. 01-wingedeagle

I agree, Pounce. I think what we may be seeing is some crybabies bemoaning the fact that GS and GSU are now taking in many of the FBS-caliber players that outsiders were able to suck into their conferences. Having only two FBS schools in the state was idiotic. I can picture GT and UGA as little spoiled kids sitting at a table full of candy and both pulling toward them as much as they can grasp, leaving quite a bit left unattended but not wanting anyone else to take it.

I think you're on the money with the "bemoaning the fact" comment. I don't think the criers-in-chief are UGA or GT. Generally, they're going to get who they want and leave the others for us. Tech may start to worry if things continue to go well, but UGA has their market cornered for the foreseeable future. It's my feeling that UGA and Tech aren't the ones with the most to lose from the move to FBS by Georgia Southern and Appalachian and from an improving Georgia State program. My guess is that Troy and MTSU have the most to lose. They are G5 programs who have traditionally had a lot of Georgia kids on their rosters. The kids that they have been signing come from the talent pool that GS, App, and GSU are likely to recruit successfully. Just my two cents' worth.

You've clearly made some bad life decisions if you end up writing sports in southern Illinois for a paper with the word gazette in its hyphenated title.

Louisiana clearly has too many.
