RE: Bubas Cup standings
I am not sure if you have noticed, but I keep a running total I update each Sunday morning. I would not be opposed to updating midweek or even every day if someone wants to help during the other 6 days of the week.

Here is what I have done with a Google Spreadsheet. You seem to have an interest in the Bubas Cup since you took time to post this. If you want to help with my efforts then let me know and I can give you editing privileges. We can work out a easy schedule where we take turns updating or we update more often.

Having more frequent updates in the spring may or may not be worth the effort, depending on how baseball and softball standings effect the Cup race.

Here are the standings after the completion of cross country. I mentioned that men's soccer comes next, but I haven't checked yet to see if that sport will be included in the Cup rankings. I'll find out and post it if so. We know that volleyball and football finish this month.

I added a bunch of columns and data for only sports that have been completed. Total points earned, avg per sport. I have this for both sports finished and also as of date I updated, which was after the XC this week.

Ok, here's the first posting of the standings on the Sun Belt website. It doesn't look like Hartwick, NJIT, Howard, New Mexico State and Idaho are going to receive any points as they are not listed in the standings, which makes sense since they are only participating in one sport. Appalachian State, Georgia Southern and Georgia State will receive points based upon their standing in men's soccer.

I'd suggest using current loss totals to determine standings in football basketball and the like. We know that eventually everyone is going to play an equal number of games, so its a bit fluky to have to have Georgia Southern first, when we know that Georgia Southern has no control over whether or not the two finish tied.

That is an idea that I thought of doing, and it might make even more sense early in each season, however every time I think of some other method to allot points before the season is over I think how easy it is to just follow the league standings as listed on the website and stick with that. Maybe I'll give what you suggest a try one week when basketball starts with conference play.

I think the other schools may receive points in the sense that if NJIT wins the MSOC standings they will receive 6 points, but even if a school took last place in EVERY sport they would still earn enough points to be ahead of any of the 5 single sport schools, so in that case it is a moot point.

And they may add these schools once FB and MSOC is over. Have to wait and see, though in the end it is a moot point.

How do they do Golf? They had a Fall season and will have a Spring season but I don't see a conference tourney listed on the Women's schedule. Is there one that hasn't been determined (place/date) yet and/or is our schedule just not up to date, or what?

It just likely hasn't been placed on the website yet. It's been in Alabama for the last 5 years and probably will be again.

Should have clarified it's not on the TXST website, didn't check the SBC site.

Thanks for the info, appreciated.04-cheers

Fall golf is just exhibition, though like Tennis and T&F and XC the only thing that matters as far as Bubas Cup is the tourney so in a sense even the spring golf events are just exhibition, except for the SB golf tourney. Though I assume some sort of pairings are done based on some ranking system.

WGOLF is set for the spring. The last I looked MGOLF is TBD, though I have not checked on that in a few weeks to be honest.

That is possible, but odd that of all the sports every conf tourney has been listed and posted except MGolf. I am guessing it is TBD both in date and location, though it may land in Alabama again. Also last year it seems it was in MS. The SB website is still showing Golf 2014 which would be for the 2013-2014 academic year.

There are some mistakes on the website. Minor but mistakes. The url states mgolf

http://www.sunbeltsports.org/custompages...path=mgolf

but the browser tab says Women's Golf. Something is wrong but I assume based on pics on this webpage the tab name is incorrect.

The number of points awarded for each sport is based on the number of teams participating.

In the sports that everyone plays each other:

M&W Basketball
Baseball
Softball
Volleyball
Football
M&W Soccer

The points are awarded based on the regular season standings at the end of the year.

In the sports that everyone does not compete with each other during the regular season, the points are awarded based on the conference championship....

This is totally wrong from a golf standpoint. From a Bubas Cup standpoint yes, but fall golf is not an exhibition.

What do you get out of it from an NCAA ranking/SB seeding standpoint? I am guessing the winner gets some recognition but does it in anyway effect the spring season?

Is it just my imagination or it there a lot more going on in the fall with spring sports than there used to be.

Results from the fall count towards your national ranking, which is used to determine NCAA seeding and at-large bids

Thanks for letting me know. Then fall is certainly not just exhibition.
