That's very fair. The focus I've seen since joining makes me think that SBCers take baseball more seriously than many other conferences, but things still fall in line the way they do in most FBS conferences. (Although it may not be fair for me to refer to football and MBB as a "big two.")

I think this is a possibility, too. Unfortunately, we didn't find our feet until after OOC last season. I hope we're quicker out of the gate this year.

9-2

that would be great. im hoping UL does around the 9-2/8-3 range also. we dont have a monster OCC schedule. after the MGM Grand tourney, its gets very manageable for us.

I am surprised to see any prediction that puts Ga. Southern at 3rd.

Maybe they know something that we don't. Is Ferguson playing this year?

I don't see a team that was 15-19 and 6-10 in the SoCon, last year, coming into the SBC like gangbusters. Stranger things have happened, I know, but I seriously want some of whatever those guys are smoking.

I have no qualms with TXST's placement but have hopes for better this year.

I think we should all predict the Eagles to finish near the bottom and watch the fun that results on here if they finish near the top.

I could handle that if it were for baseball. Just gotta see how this plays out.

He is currently practicing with the team which is a good sign. If his legal troubles get squared away then I would be willing to bet TK will give the okay to reinstate him. If we get Ferguson back to go along with Hewitt and Wiedeman then RGSU will definitely make some noise in the Sun Belt this year. Fingers crossed.

That GS over GSU record is meaningless since Ron Hunter came in the building.

Also, I hope you all realize how talented this GSU team is because Hunter is considering starting a True Freshman. This is over potential Juniors and Seniors.

Interesting i believe after this season, the record since southern became a university will be even. So there goes the whole GSU thing.

Lol. This thread; southern fans saying that suddenly other sports that southern aren't good at don't matter because it might show that they're pretty useless at basketball.

Interestingly, for as many people saying that the Sun Belt Conference is primarily a football conference, it should be noted that any team is much more likely to do something on a national scale in basketball than they can in football. At least it's possible to be in the running for a national championship in basketball unlike in football.

there is actual money made for the conference from ncaa tournament wins. ga southern will gladly line up for the welfare check.

if the huckster doesn't freeze like he did in the sbc finals last year ga state has athe talent to make the sweet 16. that's beau coup dollars in the sbc coffers.

you won't be able to convince anyone other than south al or cajun fans. it's one of the main reasons western left. not because cusa is light years ahead. because there are several like-minded schools that understand what hoops can bring to the table.
