Money at stake for Access Bowl
This article describes the playoff and access bowl money distribution. Not sure how much the participating team gets vs the conference split.

excerpt:

USA TODAY

In the final year of the BCS, the baseline distribution to the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC and American was $27.897 million. Conference USA, the Mid-American, Mountain West and Sun Belt split $13.168 million. In 2014-15, the base share for the Power Five is $50 million. The so-called Group of Five (including the American) will divide $75 million.

Other revenues include:

— As part of the base payout, each conference will receive $300,000 for each school that meets the NCAA's required APR for participation in a bowl game. (For example, if 10 teams met the requirement, a conference would receive $3 million.)

— Conferences will receive $6 million for each team selected as one of the four playoff participants. (There won't be additional funds for the teams that advance to the championship game.)

— Conferences will receive $4 million for every team selected for a non-playoff bowl (in 2014, the Cotton, Fiesta and Peach bowls).

— Each conference will receive $2 million to cover expenses for each participant in a semifinal, and for the championship game.

RE: Money at stake for Access Bowl
So you are telling me we will only get 4 million for making an access bowl? Screw that, I hope we kill Marshall in the championship game.

In addition to the 15 million from the split of the $75 mil. It's going to be about $20 million (If Marshall makes the Access Bowl) split among 13 schools or about $1.54 mil per school give a take a few hundred thousands. This doesn't include the payout for CUSA Bowl tie-ins which is why I said give or take a few hundred thousands...lol.

If the article is correct then C-USA will receive the following:

$15,000,000 share from G5 $75 million pot.

$ 3,900,000 for 13 schools each making the APR goal. Not sure all 13 will do that. Also its not clear if this is addition to the $15 million or not.

$ 4,000,000 if Marshall makes it to Access Bowl.

That would be $22,900,000 potential dollars or $1,761,538 per school. Probably Marshall would get a bigger share of the $4,000,000 than the rest, which would be fair.

Without the Access Bowl each school stands to get about $1,453,846 which is over $300,000 less. Nothing to sneeze at but not the end of the world either. I think the prestige gained by the team and conference involved in the Access Bowl is worth more than the money.

There is also a scale to the conference payout depending on strength. Not sure how that's arrived at and what the payment differences are.

Do we not get money for being the best G5 conference like the Sun Belt did last season?

Yes, but no one has told us how that will be determined. I'm not even sure they know. MinerinWI mentioned that at the bottom of his post.

I do know one thing. Technically, it will be possible to have the best G5 conference if you don't have the automatic team to the Access slot, but I have to imagine that the team's conference that makes that Access bowl is more likely to be be the best G5 league as well.

We just don't know the smoke and mirrors formula they will use.

Hope or not, you still got to get to the CG in order for "HOPE" to participate. You think on that.

How much does the school make for themselves for making the Access Bowl? That they don't have to share.

Each conference decides that on their own. Don't know if C-USA has published that info or even decided. The MWC has stated that the participating team gets half and the other half is divided among the other members.
