A good list - definitely some NFL talent there.

RE: Phil Steele's 2014 Midseason All-AAC Team
Random thoughts...
- USF's Marvin Kloss is being discussed as mid-round draft choice as a kicker...which is unsual but worth the investment. Excited for Kloss but it's sad when a kicker is likely Lou Holtz's son best recruit during his tenure at USF.

- Mack has been better than advertised, and imagine how much more effective he would be if USF had an reliable QB.

- Breon Allen is a beast and it would do ECU well to ride this horse more an more and take some of the load off of Carden and Hardy. Surprised that Isiah Jones was not on the first team

- There are no guaranteed future NFL superstars but alot of these kids will get an NFL paycheck.

- You can tell that Phil Steel does his homework b/c this is a solid list.

It's generous of him to mention Torrian Wilson as a first teamer.

I was thinking more along the line of it invalidating the whole thing.

No Brandon Alexander?

Gunner Kiel over Paxton Lynch for second team is just ignorant. Sorry Cincy fans, but that's what I think.

And what you think is very ignorant...gunner for second team by a mile
paxton has 10tds and 5 ints in 7 full games

gunner has 20tds 6ints and was knocked out at half time versus Memphis and USF

Exactly.

And don't give me that 20 tds crap. Look at the total points by our offenses. 260 and 250 respectively. If Paxton throws a completion for 50 yards down to the 2 yard line and then Cooper runs it in on the next play, that doesn't negate the fantastic throw Paxton just made to get us into position. So I don't go by stats. I go by the eye test. And I saw all I needed to see on the night of 10/04/14.

We can't help Gunnier can't take hits very well. He should know better. The only reason Kiel is 2nd team is because Cincy is a pass first offense that might be developing a run game now. Paxton will not get as many touchdowns as Kiel because of the way Memphis runs the ball. I wonder how many rushing TDs lynch has to Kiel?

i don't get your point because you hurt gunner at halftime paxton is better?
and please im not ignorant of memphis or anyone in this league..

memphis is run first team..they run to set up the passes..most of your passes are based around play action after setting it up with tons of runs, so dont twist it into paxton throwing all over the field and then someone punching it in

cincinnati is a pass first team, and before the USF games was basically a pass only team, cincy's only source of offense came from gunner, and he more than produced and been carrying them..

and again why are you usng total points against gunner when he was injured in 2 of his games....literally anyone not a Memphis fan has gunner kiel #2 in the league

and the same question can be asked what paxton would look like without the run drawing tons of defender from coverage, having a run game doesnt take away from passing, it makes it easier..
memphis is heavy play action..its not like paxton is getting shot gun every play with no backs and just picking everyone apart

Mack is having a good freshman year but the reality is that 65% of his yards have come against Western Carolina, UConn, and tulsa. And 7 of his 8 TD's came against those teams.

Curious to see how he runs against better defenses in Houston, Memphis, and UCF.

USF only had 93 rushing yards against ECU. Mack 15 carries for 61 yards. 1TD

Houston, Memphis and UCF should do just fine against containing Mack.

We are balanced even though we lead the league in rushing. Fuente has done a good job of having the same amount of passes to runs.

RE: Phil Steele's 2014 Midseason All-AAC Team
I find it interesting that neither of the first and second team selections at TE really line up at tight end, or if they do it is rare. Although Alan Cross is listed as a tight end, I'm not sure if he's actually lined up in a traditional tight end spot all year. He's been in the slot, used as a jumbo back, sent in motion or anywhere else he's needed but if he has lined up as a TE; it's been very rare. Cross is very valuable, my favorite player on this team, and belongs on the conference first team; so I'm pleased he's there.

The second team TE has (WR) beside his name.
