A couple solid wins early in the season and maybe we'll have two in the top 25. One team doesn't really move the needle for the conference much, but if we get two in, that should earn us some early respect as a league.

UTEP will get their chance to crack the top 25 in december if they can beat #2 Arizona in El Paso. It'll be tough but I see it as a big opportunity.

It should be on Fox Sports 1, if I'm not mistaken.

SI.com doesn't think nearly as high of any of our teams:

60. La Tech
92. ODU
107. UTEP
113. WKU
156. MTSU
161. Charlotte

SI has no reason to think otherwise at the moment. We need all of our upper half teams to prove stuff on the court. If we wind up with a handful of decent OOC wins as a league against we can't expect to be ranked better than we currently are.

Quote:SI's 2014-15 rankings are according to a statistical projection system developed by the economist Dan Hanner with assistance from SI's Luke Winn. It's a bottom-up model that on offense, projects every Division I player's efficiency and shot volume using past college statistics (and stats of similar players over more than a decade), recruiting ratings (which have some predictive value over immediate performance and development curves), and the quality of their head coach and teammates. These stats are then placed within the context of each team's rotation, and used to make a team offensive efficiency projection.

The simulation is run 10,000 times -- and teams are ranked by their median outcome -- to account for significant variance in player performance...
