Try to get the UTSA AD. She's a good one. Maybe her counterpart learned a thing or two.

Surprised Spear didn't get an interview. I think given the hand he's been dealt he has done well at Idaho. Their leadership seems more tentative about athletics than NMSU.

Spear was asked about it by local media in Moscow and he denied being a candidate.

RE: NMSU AD update
I wonder if Spear "denying being a candidate" (especially after the list was narrowed down to 11 to be interviewed) is the same as he didn't apply?

Obviously, both Spear and Mooney (assistant AD at UI) were on the original list of possible candidates.
I would like a sportswriter ask him these questions. I would probably tell us Vandal fans volumes about Spear. Like whether our new president has told him to brush up his resume. I feel that may be the case.

In case many here didn't know, UI alumni and fans are not exactly elated with the job Rob Spear has done as AD over the years. Him leaving may not be voluntary when it happens.

Plus you don't want to piss off a potential corporate sponsor. If nothing else throw him a bone. Also, I don't think it is stretch to pull somebody from the large business corporate world. You are not evaluating recruits or having to call plays you are really running a business.

That is exactly what our Prez has been saying since he took the job over a year ago. That Athletics will operated as a business and that is the type of AD he is looking for.
