nice article. nice to see coach K try and beef up the schedule. This years team, when gets into the NCAA tourney this year needs to win a couple games. We are so close to turning this program into a Top 30 program and a Top 5 Mid-Major yearly. Love what he has done with recruiting, academics, and image of the program. Now we just need consistent sellouts as in the late 70's and early 80's. What a special place that used to be on game nights.

Coach K has developed his team to the point where they should be able to handle a difficult schedule and compete rather than just being "cannon fodder". They gave a good account against Kansas last year and that is about the best you can expect going against NCAA elite teams. Although the hope of a major upset is always out there, it doesn't happen very often which is why they are called "upsets".

This schedule should help prepare the team to compete in the NCAA Tournament IF they get an invitation, however, a few "good losses" is NOT going to get a MAC team an at-large invitation to the tourney. If they plan on getting to the NCAA then they ultimately have to win out in Cleveland in March -----its been that way for a long time now and anyone who thinks this year will be different (and there will be many because hope springs eternal) is only deluding themselves.

I think he's going to be an All-MAC type of player.

The other Williams is getting better too, per a Q&A on the Rocket Report.

I really think Jonathan Williams is gonna be a stud for you guys. Third scoring option this year and likely in double digits. Maybe not all MAC this year...but his junior and senior campaigns for sure.

Read the article and it's nice we get a couple of high profile names on the schedule. Maybe we push those teams and get lucky and get a W. The easiest way in my opinion is win the gosh darn tournament!!

I think there is nothing more rigged and crooked than NCAA basketball scheduling and RPI as related to the NCAA tournament. Wonder why there aren't many upsets? The bigger conferences barely schedule any mid major teams, never play at our arenas, will only schedule one and done with us and when we do meet them it's in a goofy holiday tournament hundreds of miles from home. Then tournament selection time we get screwed when our RPI isn't high enough and we don't have any signature wins. It's a bunch of bull-pucky.

I think the USA should be split in to regions and regionally every major and mid major team has to schedule non-conference from a cross section of big major teams and mid major. Somehow level the playing field. Right now it's up to the schools and how they want to organize their schedule and then come tournament time they ding us because we don't have anyone over a 50 rpi on our schedules.

Should be an exciting team to watch...can't afford to drop any games to lesser opponents this year, while also playing tough OOC.

Sorry...in the MAC, it's really the only way.

Short of winning 27+ games including a high quality win, no MAC team is getting an at-large bid.

Sad, but true...how long has it been since the MAC had an at large team? 20 yrs?

Agree for the most part although MSU is a notable exception and UT has entertained Cinci and Alabama not so long ago. But it's not like the days when a Top 5 John Roche led South Carolina team invaded the Field House or when Ransey, Williams et al took their Centennial beating and went home. And of course Indiana won't be coming back anytime soon....

Not quite. 1999.
