Yet he's on an NBA opening day roster.

Go figure.

I thought Black was not utilized but I thought that had more to do with our guards than Josh...But Black wouldn't have played much if I had other options either...Dude wouldn't rebound or defend to save his life...Apparently he is fixing that issue.

How do you utilize a guy who in any big game gets 2 fouls in first 45 seconds-happened time and time again? mediocre in other facets except catch and dunk. really no go to post move.

You find a way to keep him in the game or you get productive minutes out of him when you can.

As for a "go-to-post move", the guy scored 70% of his shots mostly by backing down his defender and then dunking on him. What other sort of "post moves" would you like to see? The f-ing Dream Hook?

How many charges did he pick up trying to back his guy in? A lot. How about a drop step or spin move that 80 of decent college big men use. Or even a head or ball fake? When you are out of shape and your body fat is over 20% easy to reach and grab on D. Foul trouble=less minutes played. FACTS.

Not many because he didn't have the ball in his hands.

Ball fakes? Head fakes? He made 70% of his shots.

A drop step? Did you watch the guy play while he was here? He got position, drop stepped and dunked. Rinse and repeat.

Where on god's green Earth are you getting that his body fat was over 20%? It's like you've never seen him play before.

If you guys don't remember the guy who quit on us and transferred to Kansas being 20-25 lbs overweight then I am wasting my time. Canes: have you ever even played or coached anything close to competitive BB at any level? If Black had a drop step move, me and 2-3 former NBA tiger players missed it. I will not name them. If Black was a a Tiger, I would not criticize him like this but he is NOT.

Where are you even coming up with this stuff? Black was between 252-260 when he played for us. 260 when he played at Kansas.

253 when he went through the draft combine, and his body fat was 10%.

But laud us with your basketball resume, please. I'm sure you're another one of the dozens of former high D1 coaches that we seem to have running round this board.

A drop step is a simple thing. If 2 former Tigers told you that they've haven't seen Tarik drop step, then I'm sure that was followed by eye rolling and laughing when you were out of your earshot. Not that I'm questioning your connection to loads of "former NBA Tiger players".

You are like my ex wife-always have to get the last word in. Just curious though, why are you and others so complimentary of a rival's player making an NBA roster?

Perhaps your ex wife just got fed up with you sounding like a numbskull and talking out of your a##.

Let me run a little test: are you a graduate of the University?

If you're daring to call Kansas a rival, I'll just assume you're half in the bag this afternoon.

Yes with honors Class of 1980. Know around 10-12 former Tigers personally. Played with 2 back in 70's in what eventually became Bluff City Summer league. What else would you like to know?

Do you consider yourself a Memphis Tiger? I'll answer this for you: yes.

So, based on that, you are as much of a Tiger than Mr. Black. He has a degree, like you.

He knows more former players than you do.

He's given more of his time to this University, by hundreds of hours most likely.

Frankly, Black is MORE of a Memphis Tiger than you are or will ever be. If he's not considered a Tiger, neither are you.

Sorry to break it to you.

Last post on this thread. Very convoluted logic you are using there. Using that logic, Black is more of a Tiger than Keith Lee, William Bedford, Cedric Henderson, etc. THEY DID NOT QUIT ON TEAM AND TRANSFER.

Black used both hands very well in the paint. He needed the ball while he was here and our guards didnt get it to him. Period. The guy has never been fat or overweight. He's been around 260 for 3 or 4 years.

Ah, so now we're talking about Lee, Bedford, Henderson and not some schlep on a message board. If they want to state that Tarik isn't as much of a Tiger as them, they've earned that right. But Black has done 10x more for this University than you have, so other Tiger fans are free to pull your card every time.

From the drop step comment, to the body fat comment, to this complete change of subject, you have been off your game today, Sir.

Go sleep it off.
