WatchESPN HDMI Device $19 w/Amazon Prime
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GDQ0RMG

For 2 days, if you have Prime you can preorder this for $19(price shown in checkout). I have used my Roku with WatchEPSN to watch a couple of the football games this year. If you have Prime, I think this is a no-brainer for $19 to watch football and basketball games on your tv.

And if you don't have Prime, go with a chromecast

http://www.google.com/chrome/devices/chromecast/

same idea, except you use your phone/tablet as the remote.

It hasn't been released yet, but given amazon's track record, this will be a simple device to use.

I'm assuming it's similar to the Amazon Fire TV interface. Reviews of that can be found here. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CX5P8FC/

Does the prime membership give you access to the movies, tv shows, music for no additional cost? I know prime is about $80 a year, but this could essentially lead me to cancel cable.

Yeah, it gives you access to all the Prime movies/tvshows/music. I think they upped it to $100 a year. It also includes free 2 day shipping on most everything they sell.

The movie/tv show catalog isn't amazing, but it's pretty good. You'd probably want to combine it with a Hulu/Netflix if you really want to cut the cord.

Depends on the provider. Some of them only require you to pay for internet through them.

I use Apple TV with a good connection cable. The quality is great but it's a $100 plus the cable. I want another connection downstairs. I have Prime, and for $19 that sounds great. Is it HD quality?

Yup. Also, for future reference, NEVER buy an HDMI cable in stores. A $5 HDMI cable from Amazon works just as well as the $60 one from Best Buy. Since the signal is digital, it either works, or it doesnt. There is no quality of the signal like with older analog connectors.

I have Charter for internet and Directv for TV. Directv doesn't offer access to the WatchESPN app but I can still get ESPN3 events using Charter.

So if you have Charter for internet, you can only watch ESPN3 events, not ESPN/2/U etc.

So when I order this thing do i need to get another HDMI cable in addition to the one I have going from my cable box to my TV? Thought the divice plugged directly into my TV.

The wireless Google/Amazon thing is great for Wireless connections to your TV. But at home, if you don't need wireless from your laptop->TV in your living room or den, just hook that up via HDMI.

Personally, getting an Acer box for $200-$250 that you can plug into your TV and carry it around in a small bag is sweet. Wireless keyboard & mouse, you're good to go. Install XBMC on that sucker, watch all TV shows just-aired, and movies that are being released on DVD soon -- all for Free.

This device plugs straight into the HDMI port. CD's apple TV is a box that needs a cable.

We've got a Chromecast and it's glorious for WMU games on ESPN3.

But I've still been debating on the Fire Stick for $19... having a dedicated remote might be easier, to some extent.
