Smoke and Mirrors
Just so that we make this its own separate thread and don't detract from others.

1. NIU should not get in over Marshall. I can't see how they could logically leapfrog the Herd.

2. NIU is the biggest 11-2 smoke and mirrors show ever.

Marshall
Record: 12-1
SOS: 105
Average Margin of Victory: 26.3 points
Total offense: 575 yards per game (2nd in nation)
Total defense: 359 yards per game (34th in nation)

NIU
Record: 11-2
SOS: 107
Average Margin of Victory: 15.1 points
Total offense: 442 yards per game (40th in nation)
Total defense: 383 yards per game (55th in nation)

...and just for fun...

WMU
Record: 8-4
SOS: 109
Average Margin of Victory: 20.9 points
Total offense: 443 yards per game (38th in nation)
Total defense: 373 yards per game (49th in nation)

RE: Smoke and Mirrors
Did someone say NIU is better than Marshall?

Marshall has a history of being pretty good as a rule, you know, in a cheating sort of way.

Yes, everybody on the NIU board is saying that all they need is Fresno to beat Boise and they're in. 03-lmfao

Isn't that what we should be rooting for?

Honestly, I'm not sure.

A couple of years ago when NIU was the real deal? Absolutely. They put up a decent fight against Florida St. and represented the MAC proudly.

Now? Do I want to see them get embarrassed by Baylor, MSU, Mississippi St., Arizona, etc.? Definitely not.

That might put you in the Potato Bowl vs something warmer.
