RE: Toledo v UMASS game thread
Boy, Woodside has trouble throwing downfield. I think that is part of the reason why Russell isn't more targeted...Woodside cant really get him the ball. I know Alonzo looked upset after several of Woodside's passes.

Still see a team that commits too many penalties, takes timeouts at unfortunate times, and looks unprepared to start a game.

I agree with several of you...one game at a time. The good news is that no one else on our schedule seems that good

Anyone can see we look confused out there. Either side of the ball. I also thought Woodside was the man to lead this team. But he has looked horrible out there. The last three games. Coaches may be able to recruit and teach the game. Get good kids that make UT the best team on the field. But they cannot coach a team at game time. They just can't.

Don't know what happened on this play, but I saw other coaches pushing and grabbing one of our coaches to get him away from the official. At first it looked like our coaches were getting into a fight with each other on the sideline.

What I did see happen was UMass clearly had 12 men on the field and the official waited until the play was over to throw the flag. I have a feeling one of the coaches was on the field screaming at him because he thought the 12th guy not getting off in time was not going to be called. It was strange. I got the impression the official was not going to flag it if he thought no one on the UT sideline saw it.

Mark Beier thinks UMass might have let the Rockets score.

That's what it looked like. Absolutely no one was close to him.

I said that right after Swanson scored. No one on the interior for UMass attempted to tackle him or pursue him - and the block downfield was close to being holding even though the UMass defender wasn't trying to tackle Swanson. It would have been great to get a penalty on a play where they were trying to give us a touchdown. Bet that would have made the ESPN not top 10.

Campbell was practically at midfieldby the time the ref behind him threw a flag. We already hsd a sideline warning in the first quarter. Dumb move by Campbell. Heat of the moment stuff but he wasn't gonna get a second warning.

Roberts looked like a Pro-TE catching the FB. He looks like a "big" WR.
Seems like he could be used to stop the doubling up on Alonzo.

If it took a 15 yard penalty against the UT coaching staff to get the 5 yard illegal substitution penalty against UMass, I figure that is was probably worth it. That 5 yard penalty gave the Rockets a badly needed 1st and 10 and all it cost them was a few yards of field position.

Russell, Jones, Macon, Roberts, and Zmolik would seem like a good group to have out there at all times, plus you have the RB. Not sure what Macon and Zmolik's status is going to be, though.

The Back Judge threw the illegal substitution penalty at the snap. Can't blame Campbell though, I'm sure he didn't see the flag all the way back at the goal line.

RE: Toledo v UMASS game thread
Saw Hunt's post game presser and he kind of laughed about not being in the game when UMASS gave us the 19 yard TD run. He had just come out after gaining yards on a number of carries. He was the one that told Swanson ".. they let you score" Swanson's reaction was "...is that what happened? I wondered why no one was around on that play" (or words to that effect).

Hunt could have ended up with 217 yards and 2 TD's.
