RE: Best Running Back in Sun Belt?
Never seen a back like Breida at GS. If he gets an opening, he is gone and no DBs have even come close to keeping up with him. He looks faster to 40yrds than McKinnon who ran a 4.35,4.38, and 4.41 at the combine. Pretty amazing that he is averaging 9.4 ypc.
I would guess he is the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year?

Doesn't break many good tackles but if you give the kid an inch he will take 3-4 miles. Top end speed is ridiculous.

but is he a receiving threat? can he do blitz pickup? those are things that make great RBs

He is an excellent receiver and has proven to be a good blocker when called upon to do that.

My guess is on Elijah McGuire as OPY. he should finish 1st in all-purpose yards and about equal in TD's with Breida. Im sure Breida will be 1st team all conference. and his ypc is crazy.

Seen a number of backs like Breida at G5 and FCS programs. He is fast, but he doesn't break many tackles. Small fast skilled athletes can be found all over the south.

Coach Hudspeth said Cox is the best back the UL will have played this season.

As good as Breida has been this year, he is just the latest in a long line.... Peterson, Austin, Foster, McKinnon, Swope (boy I wish GS had him this year).
Breida was recruited as a slot in the old TO and he is pretty much the prototype for that role.

Cox may be the best all around back in the league. His biggest weakness has been fumbling this year. His vision is unbelievable.

Not trying to take anything away from Cox, but CMH saying that the week leading up to playing App doesn't necessarily mean its true or that he even believes it.

This is a 39 yard run by Cox that would have been 90 for Breida. Cox is a great back, but Breida can put 6 on the scoreboard every time he touches it. His burst and top speed are as good as any back in the country.

Cox on a long run getting caught vs GaSt

Breida on a similar long run vs GaSt.

I said best all around RB. No doubt Brenda wins a track meet. But if you were asked to pick one RB to give 25 carries to, pass to 5 times, and pick up blitzes you take Cox over Breida. Breida works in your offense, he complements a big back and triple option style QB. App's had those Breida type players before but aren't every down backs in our system.

You know a big difference I see between those runs you linked? 2 are in a game outside in a snowstorm and 1 is inside in a dome. if you don't think that makes a difference, then you're dumb. also, Breida's run was an option pitch, so nothing like the 2 runs Marcus had

RE: Best Running Back in Sun Belt?
Having seen all three backs, our coaches are unanimous in saying McGuire is the best. Not only the best running back, but the best player in the league. Joey Jones has stated that previously.
Coach Jones was not at his radio show tonight because he was at the First and Ten Club with the GoDaddy Bowl, so our defensive coordinator participated. He answered a question about South Carolina by saying they had a huge offensive line like MSU with a great back like Elijah McGuire and said that McGuire was a SEC-level back.
Our coaches are very high on McGuire.

There were some questions about his transcripts in high school, he was very far behind in school, every school thought he was a junior school wise and would possibly have to sit his senior of high school for being too old. HUD and his high school coach have a great relationship, HUD knew the situation and stayed on him. McGuire put in the extra work and graduated on time, by the time the big schools figured it out was a couple days before signing day. He stayed committed to the Cajuns because he said our coaches believed in him when nobody else did. If that doesn't happen, he is wearing purple and gold or crimson right now. He will be playing on Sundays, I know it sounds like I'm being a homer but if you get to watch this kid every week like I do, I'm telling you he is special. His vision and balance is like nothing I have ever seen in person...ever. Right when you think he is tackled, he plants and he is gone. Or you think he is done because he is practically horizontal and he somehow stays up. He has 1400 plus yards right now, splitting carries with Harris and broadway...with turf toe.

He broke his leg his junior year and did not attend any summer college football camps going into his senior year. Most recruiting websites had him listed as a junior, so most college football recruiting coordinators thought he was still a junior. You are correct about his grades and transcripts, but that is not why college coaches thought he was a junior. And after he committed to UL, LSU came late that January and offered him to play defensive back. Coach Chavis called his mother, she hung up on him. LOL!!!

RE: Best Running Back in Sun Belt?
Trying to determine the best back in many ways is like comparing apples to oranges. Based on the systems they play in, they are asked to do different things. It appears to me that folks are happy with their top back and aren't looking to trade for someone else. Everyone can go home happy.

RE: Best Running Back in Sun Belt?
Cox might be the most complete back in the conference, run, catch, block, he does it all well, will probably finish second in the conference in rushing, only negative is because he runs so hard, and refuses to go down easily, he has put the ball on the ground alittle too much, but, that's only a temporary problem, coach SS will get it fixed.
