As it stands, it's like he's searching for an excuse.

RE: Blakeney blasts espn and short week games
Maybe if Blakeney would've cared enough over the past 4 years and didn't let his football program turn into a dumpster fire, this wouldn't be a big deal.

When you lose control of the discipline of your program and won't go out your way to recruit good players anymore, you start losing, and you find somebody to blame for it. This time it's ESPN...

I love Blakeney and I'm thankful for the 5-straight SBC titles, Power 5 upsets, and bowl games he took us too, but come on Larry... 03-banghead

RE: Blakeney blasts espn and short week games
I don't think a good many coaches like weekday games and with the timing it looks like anything might provoke the ire of a man who built Troy Football and for whatever reason has watched it begin if not collapse.......Don't really think that baseball and basketball like those mid week games either but that is the way it is......and mostly baseball players keep grades up there....and some football players too.....

My wife teaches 5th grade and a few years ago a little boy who always got in trouble got in trouble again.......my wife's team teacher sends him to the office.....and as cool as a cucumber he asks very politely if he can address the class and just say one thing before leaving........they said yes.......and he proceeded to say the following
F you guys all of you guys and have a good day.....and with head down and fingers up walked calmly with escort to the office.......

Larry seems to be about ready for that parting address any moment

Does Blakeney go on to complain about how the kids are always on their gameboys and listen to loud music? Give him the mic back, he still has to tell us to get off his lawn.

U said a mouthful there brotha...

I'm as thankful of LBs success as much as anyone, but kudos to you for recognizing his deflection tactic, which is something "The Program" can no longer afford...

OK, I will admit I enjoyed seeing the Cajuns on TV the last 2 weeks, but I understand and agree with Blakeney on this one. My take on it is that he has probably felt this way (as many mid-major coaches probably do) all along but has kept his mouth shut up to now for political reasons. This is hard on the players, as they are “student athletes” not pros.

I just fear our problems go deeper than Blakeney and staff...and that a new coaching staff has the same struggles.

Got a lot work to do on the recruiting trail. That's what makes the hiring such a big deal.

RE: Blakeney blasts espn and short week games
I've been 04-cheers

But I'll say this.

I like the exposure the mid week games give. (Although it had to suck to play up against the opening night of the World Series last week... Who picked that? [UL/stAte]... wasn't planned real good imop)

But from a fan who would sometimes get 6 regular season home games PLUS 4 Playoff games at Home......

We have THREE! Saturday home games. T H R E E!

I love the two Thursday night games on National TV. BUT DID THEY BOTH HAVE TO BE HOME GAMES???????

I say that to say this.... (Like I said, I've been 04-cheers).. can you imagine how many times I've had to back up and retype stuff already?!! 03-lmfao

I UNDERSTAND where LB is coming from... NO NOT THE LINE BACKER! 03-lmfao03-drunk

ALSO - The Memphis Coach...... I've seen our own University newspaper act this way and the Statesboro Herald. I mean.. I understand "Reporter credibility" and all and "Journalistic Integrity"... but COME ON.... Try and throw a freaking little bit of support towards a program that will help the local Economy... P L E A S E! And fans, Alumni ...... IF YOU DON'T GIVE..... (AND THIS GOES FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES AS WELL!)..... Then stop B%@#%%ng about the local team or economy. GIVE and you shall RECEIVE!

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM/PROGRAM.. and your UNIVERSITY! F the local SEC TEAM (if you didn't go there).. (and even if you did 03-lmfao)
WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR LOCAL economy?

PUT UP or Shut up.

I agree with both of these spot lighted coaches.....

Maybe I'm just 03-drunk

GATA

ADDED: I'd like to give a little respect to the ATL locals/Alums who give support to GAST.. NOT A DIG!
They remind me of South Carolina Fans. THOSE who stick ARE your base.. you build from there.
Arbuckle is impressive, you guys should have broke 40. U will win 2! SBC games this year.
Good luck.

You know what I find curious about this.....

Troy's reputation as a very good football program was built on upsets of teams from the Big 12 and SEC, including when Missouri was ranked in the top 20.

He wasn't complaining about Thursday night games back then. If those had been on Saturday, few would have noticed.

Hes not neccessarly complaining about weekday games hes upset about any program having BACK to BACK short weeks. This is the first time since we joined FBS back in 2001 we have had to do this.
