Funniest line of the day
DVRd the scUM game. During the game, they go to game break and guy doing the scores finishes with this line........
"And number 15 Arizona is lighting up Wahington State. If the Wolverines are looking for a new coach they might want to consider Arizona's Rich Ro........ Maybe not (stopped short of saying it, and then laughed). Back to East Lansing."
I actually feel bad for Hoke, but not for their program or phony fan base.
Chris Speilmen spelled it out when he said, Michigan gets a ton if 5 star recruits, but they can't develop them. Very true.
They also played the infamous press conference where Mike Hart made the "little brother comment, and showed the Dantonio press con from the next day when he said, "I've got a great memory and I'm going to be here a long time."
I hope Hart has grown up because he looked like a complete dick when he made that statement, and it's been poison for scUM ever since.

It hasn't been poison for UM. When I went to a UM tailgate when we played them not too long ago, they had a beat up car they painted green, with "Little Brother" in white coloring written on it, which they were all smashing. I'm sure they'll do that next year in AA. A massive amount of UM fans think & BELIEVE that -- Fully.
Hart is now a grown-adult, I'm sure he feels humbled by it and although I'm sure he thinks of UM as A big brother -- he highly likely doesn't see MSU as any little brother at all, in any close to literal sense. But unfortunately, many UM fans Do -- which is WHY they're fans. They're in love with the Big Name from growing up -- hence the instilled belief that they are a "Big Brother" OVER any team in the state. That's 100% incorrect in the modern era, but doesn't stop avid AA worshipers. :)

I am shocked that UM is doing so bad. They have a very good D, but just a Surprisingly HORRIBLE OFFENSE. They can talk recruits all day long, but having *1* solid receiver, and a QB who can't pass without grave mistakes, game in/game out, and a 'stellar' backup QB who'd start for only 1/3rd of the MAC schools -- wow. And their offensive line is NOT good. Again, one can talk recruits all they want -- and even with a hired Alabama OC at the helm -- you don't have squat for recruits if that's what you got on the field.

Al Borges must be smiling knowingly when he cashes a check from U-M on his way to the golf course.

UM is about five years from becoming the second banana in the state.
There is a generation of twelve year olds who in five years may have witnessed a life time of MSU domination. They don't know or care about what a storied program UM was 60 years ago, they'll only know that UM is a middle of the pack program in the Big Ten.
What does UM have that OSU, Wisconsin, MSU, or Penn State not have? They all play in mega facilities and are on TV all the time. They'll likely never see a run in the current BCS configuration like UM had in their glory years. Even Minnesota has an impressive stadium, a huge campus, and is experiencing success. UM may never get that edge back of being The Big Two with OSU.
"Michigan Men" like Derdorff and Brandon have ruined their program and turned them into laughingstocks. They've tried to resurrect an era at Michigan that is long gone.
First and foremost Brandon has to go. Last year at the WMU/MSU game a plane flew over the stadium and sky wrote, "Go Blue." The paper trail for who paid to do it ended up back on Brandon's desk.

RE: Funniest line of the day
I think the "Michigan men" drastically underestimated how competitive big time college football became over their 4 decades or so of relative dominance in the B1G. They convinced themselves Lloyd Carr was holding them back and they needed to be bold and dynamic on offense. Once that illusion was shattered by it not working overnight they panicked and tried to recapture the past which is of course impossible. Just hiring someone and thinking he can make it 1992 again is crazy, college football has changed drastically. These people still talk about Bo and Don Cannom like they are contemporary figures. They're like college football Old Money. They have the trappings of a big program but in mentality they are just falling further behind. They're still talking about Harbaugh and Les Miles but for all the wrong reasons. Its just crazy how they can't get their minds around the fact that it isn't going to go back to how it was.

Here is what I can't seem to get through Wolverines' fans heads. If Doug Nussemeir was the second coming as an offensive coordinator, he wouldn't be at Michigan, he would still be at Alabama. I'm surprised that more people don't ask the question, why on earth would a guy who is an offensive coordinator for the premier program in the country, that regularly competes for national championships, leave all that for a floundering Michigan program. Either to be the next head coach as promised, or Alabama just didn't want him. After watching Michigan, there is a reason Bama didnt pony up to keep him.
The talent is there at Michigan. It really is. They just have no clue how to develop it, or develop schemes to fit their talent.

I have a strong connection to a former Michigan band member, and I once payed $50 to park in the golf course. Does that count?

RE: Funniest line of the day
Michigan's basic problem is how to compete in the present (much less win as much as their fan base expects to) while living in the past.
"This is Michigan" - what does that really mean any more?
They're becoming a basketball school.

That was very well said, Liam.
If someone could say this in a public service announcement that airs before UofM games, then they would save allot of their fans serious dollars in therapy.
