I don't think I was imagining this.

what does being available for comments with the media have to do with the on field handshake between coaches?

Playing until the end is one thing. Calling timeouts with 9 seconds left on the clock, down 28 points is another.

I don't care if it's Frank Solich, Urban Meyer, P.J. Fleck, or Kalamazoo College's coach... If you watch any sports at all, you'd know this was unusual in any sport, and in some cases considered a little bit of poor sportsmanship not to just run out the clock, end the game, and get back home to fight another day.

It was dumb. And everyone in the stadium knew it.

WMU vs. Ohio Game Thoughts
Called a TO because he wanted to score a TD. He needed something positive to happen so he can build on it. Lessens the sour taste of a loss just a tad. Now he can go back to his team and point out that they were 3 plays away from being in a tie ball game. The pick 6, and two big pass plays. It's a lot easier to sell college kids that summation rather than saying they got their butts kicked. Solich can't afford to let his team get down or be negative. They aren't talented enough to blow teams out. He needs their heads in every game. It's easier to do that when u fight to the end rather than take a knee. Sends mixed signals to his players if they don't try and score.

if you want to be mad at somebody be mad at your defense for allowing Ohio to make a 15 play, 97yd drive at the end of the game. If you want to be mad at somebody be mad at Ronald Zamort for getting an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that turned 4th and 18 into an automatic 1st down for Ohio on that drive. You're probably one of those people that is overly sensitive about teams who "run up the score" too. Play till the whistle blows.

But a 15 play 97 yard drive is exactly what you want to let the other team run out the clock on themselves?

DB, why do you want this guy to leave? 03-no

Quote:And Fleck took great pride in Davis' performance after the game as well.

"I called it," said the eccentric head coach. "I told Kirk Ciarrocca in our meeting yesterday, '(Davis) is going to have a monster game. He's gonna have 200 yards receiving and five touchdowns.' I was three touchdowns off."

"You can see (Davis) getting better and better," Fleck said. "Now, (our opponents) are starting to take away Jarvion, (Daniel) Braverman, and Darius (Phillips). And now, Davis is getting lost in the mix. The best receiver in the MAC gets lost in the mix," he said with a chuckle.

Who's mad? We crushed Ohio. All smiles here.

I hope next time we run up the score on Ohio and call timeouts up 28 pts. with under a minute left in the game.
