Non-Cartel Conference wins vs P5/Notre Dame/BYU
Non-Cartel Conference wins vs P5/Notre Dame/BYU

MWC 8-17: Colorado St d. Colorado, Utah St d Wake Forest, Nevada d Washington St, Colorado St d. Boston College, Utah St d. BYU, Nevada d BYU, Boise St d BYU, Boise St d. Arizona St

AAC 7-19: temple d. Vanderbilt, ECU d. Virginia Tech, ECU d. North Carolina. UCF d. BYU, Houston d Pitt, Memphis d BYU

MAC 3-21: Northern Illinois d. Northwestern, Bowling Green d. Indiana, Central Michigan d. Purdue

Sun Belt 1-16: Louisiana Monroe d. Wake Forest

CUSA: 1-23: Louisiana Tech d. Illinois

*I posted this weekly, and after the MWC gave BYU their first 3 losses, some AAC fans jumped on me for including BYU. UCF defeated BYU, some CUSA fans jumped on me about including BYU. I was fair and consistent every week by including BYU in these standings. If I was trying to do what certain fans accused me of, I'd omit BYU. BYU went 3-0 vs P5. BYU went 2-3 vs MWC. BYU went 2-2 vs AAC and 2-0 vs everyone else.

I don't consider BYU a "Cartel" team. They are on the outside looking in just like the rest of us.

I've included BYU in these standings every week. Before the season, not 1 person protested. You were happy when I included BYU in them after the UCF win 2 weeks ago. What changed now? I'd be happy to omit BYU from this if it makes YOU happy, but before I do read below.
Here's a quote from a CUSA/MAC fan a few weeks back, "BYU isn't on the same level as the P5+ND, you've just added them to bump up AAC.....

Examples of defending BYU in these rankings:

KNIGHTTIME: "What is funny the original post counted byu well before the ucf game and when the league was 0-1 against them. Now it is all of a sudden an issue counting byu as a big win.""I'm glad you're counting BYU since we will hopefully get a win too."

Mike the Knight: "Thanks for being concerned enough to come over to our board and try to regulate how to track "big" wins"

"There isn't many schools that could support a whole network even in the p5 schools. They have a P5 program even if the country club doesn't let them in the door."

YoungKnight: "If you have a tv channel, you are pretty big"

Pesik: "perception wise beating byu is a lot better than beating the bottom half of the P5"

StillJonesing: "Any program capable of drawing 65 friggen thousand fans in losing season like BYU has IS a big time program. Period. That's like top 25 in the entire nation and 3 times as many as your stadium even holds I bet. The fact they have been in the top 25 this year as well only validates that win beyond that. We draw like a mid level P5 program, they draw like a top level one. Educate yourself."

"65 ******* thousand people a game in losing seasons. Nuff said"------I'll end there, but you get the point.

BYU may have all the ingredients but they aren't one, period.

Now that BYU has been counted as a P5 opponent by the ACC, and the PAC and Big 10 have never said otherwise, this thread is relevant. I was called out by certain people all year when I posted these weekly threads. I've been redeemed!

It would also be nice to see how each P5 cartel conference did individually against "non-cartel" teams and how the "non-cartel" conferences did against each other OOC.

Does my using the term cartel to describe the P5 offend you? Noticed the quotes....

Appropriate term IMO...

Interesting to watch this over the coming years, hope you keep doing it.

in my book, being a cartel team has everything to do with having a separate contract to the access bowl. BYU will never sniff one unless they are in the playoffs....... which is about as likely as an undefeated AAC team would be.

Doesn't offend me in the slightest way. Actually fairly accurate, IMO. I think it was just the first time I ever wrote cartel v. non-cartel to describe the disparity - and I tend to overuse air quotes.

Let's just say I'm not "the norm." I'm not "camera friendly." I don't "wear clothes that fit me." I guess I don't "fall in line." I'm not "hygenic." I don't "wipe properly." I lack "style." I have no "charisma" or "self esteem." I don't "own a toothbrush" or "let my scabs heal." I can't "reach all the parts of my body." When I sleep, I "sweat profusely."

Congrats on the ACC ruling that BYU is counted as a P5! That will stop all the "byu to AAC" talk now. Unless BYU joining would lift 12 teams into the mythical "P6"??? Trust me, we will be reading threads from here on out about BYU to the AAC making it a P6. Just sit back, relax, wait and watch....

stadium size, attendance figures, alumni support, national television appearances, record,.. none of these are factors in determining if a team is a P5 team or not, what makes a team a P5 team is that it gets a share of 70% of the TV revenue from ESPN. That's not BYU.

Billy Bobby and perimeter post are correct on this....and those comments within threads regarding adding BYU already exist.
