Shcocked to see a commercial with PJ, anonymous players and a little kid.

You don't want to see it. The whole ad is awkward and amateurish.

Not sure why they would even be running local TV adds for home football games right now. Seems like a pretty inefficient way to promote the product and has never really worked. Maybe it reminds people there is a home game on Saturday if nothing else but it seems you could do that using a highlight package from this season instead of a canned spot.

I mean its homecoming. If you're gonna spend money on TV adds do something more than that. Maybe put up a spot in the Detroit market and see if you can't get some alumni to travel for a beautiful Saturday afternoon game who otherwise wouldn't.

Really? If it's the one I saw during the Channel 3 News, I thought it was very good.

The newspaper used to be a weekly flier for the upcoming game. Not a lot of people subscribing to the paper edition these days, and the online version simply doesn't have the same build up to it.

So the free media, which used to be your best promotional vehicle, has to be replaced with something else. What's left other than radio, TV, and billboards?

Frankly, if I were WMU athletics, I'd pay to do a half hour Bronco Recap on one of the more recognized channels. The current show on WLLA (a religious station that has virtually no viewership) is a waste, even if it is free.

Hook and Andy Pepper doing a show on Sunday night, that would garner some attention. And Fleck is tailor made for a TV.

Even moreso! :) Ever see Reno 911, and in the show, they make their own local commercials that are awkward & amateurish? OMG, I'd love to see a PJ-Fleck rendition of that...

I know that a big part of me becoming a Bronco fan early on when I was a kid before eventually getting an education there was getting up early to watch the Sunday morning WMU coach's shows on Ch. 3 with Hook and Harbaugh/Molde. They were great and would chronicle the previous day's entire game highlights from start of game to finish with the coach's commentary. Wish something like that was still around, even in an online format.

John Koch did those shows. He was great. I'm sure he'd take time away from his State Farm office to do a show. But Andy Pepper. He and Fleck would be schtick.

It was on WLLA 64 last year, and also streamed on the WMU site. Not sure if they're doing it this year.

Knock told me WWMT couldn't get a reasonable time slot, so they dropped it.

In the age of DVRs 10am on Sunday would work, unless it conflicts with Bob Scheffer.

The MAC should do a deal with ESPN 3, and stream all of the coaches shows. Might as well get out in front of this stuff, everything will be streamed eventually.

that's what I was thinking. I didn't see it on WMUBroncos.com anymore and was wondering if it was still being produced.

Hook was the guy hosting that show way back in the Harbaugh and Molde days. I know, because I tuned in religiously as a kid like I did for Bugs Bunny cartoons Saturday morning. Koch took it over during the end of the Molde era or beginning of the Darnell era, I believe. Perhaps Bruin can jog our memories on here?

I met Koch at his son's birthday party 7 years ago or so, when I was dating an older woman (who I originally met off the 'net) from Portage. She knew many of the WWMT people thru her friends. Keith Thompson showed up and she said some odd things about some tension between some of the people (forgot exactly what; a long time ago).

The funny thing was, when Koch's son (~10-12 years old?) was about to blow out the candles, he was asked to make a wish. He cried out that he wanted his mom & dad to be back together again (they were separated at the time). Everyone went awkward silent... he then blew out the candles, except a couple remaining. It was still silent, and Koch stepped in to clear the air and said, "Well, you didn't blow out All the candles, so your wish doesn't come true!" OMG, it was so hard not to laugh super loud.

But yes, it'd be great if he did a WMU coach's show on Sat or Sun mornings.

It's still on. I have my DVR set up to tape it. I'll check on what channel, 64 sounds about right though. I believe it's a Tue. or Wed. .evening. I've seen four or so of them this year

I think Bronco Review is on Thursdays at 7:30 on that religious channel and maybe again Saturday morning somewhere. I know I've seen it this year.
