They could sneak past Marshall with the win against BC and only loss against BSU.

Agreed, esp. about the "establishment" part.

Need the Rams to lose.

Colorado State is on the outside looking unless Boise State loses again.

You have to be a conference champion to earn the bid.

RE: Herd to hire PR firm
Most people don't realize that the MWC fills a reasonable void in the conference landscape. They are not a reasonable threat to the PAc-12 and few to no schools inside the the MWC are in the same states at any of the other P5 conferences. AAC and Cusa all share the same area with Big12, SEC, ACC. Now do we actually pose any threat? No, but anytime Marshall is in the headlines, WVU is affected. Any time ECU is in the headlines half the ACC is affected. Just about every G5 school will have a P5 program and its cronys after them when success comes knocking. CSU is blessed in that its always been treated as an equal to Colorado in their state.

I agree and am rooting for Boise to win out, but thats a very thin line to be pressed against. Boise slips up, we are SOL as a conference.

Its a shame that we could have a team go undefeated and not get into an access bowl. It shows you truly how bad the P5 schools screwed us this go round. We activly rooted for the destruction of the Big East thinking that we could take their access bowl spot. Now instead of say having 3 teams from Now G5 schools playing in the BCS like in 2009 when TCU, Boise State and Cincinatti, we all share a single slot.

Really pleased CUSA is promoting MARSHALL regardless of what happens this year. PROMOTION should be adopted for the league FB FRONTRUNNER EVERY YEAR! Rest assured, there will be no promotion from anybody, if we don't promote it ourselves.

I agree. 04-cheers

There should always be some kind of push from the conference for the frontrunner.

Agreed!! The Joey harrington for heisman billboard years ago, helped pave the way for independant publicity outside of the everyday media stream. Thinking outside of the box and going the extra mile to promote your best is a big deal.

I'm surprised I hadn't seen any "Cato for Heismann" pushes to be honest with you. I really thought Marshall would go all out with that attempt.

My guess is the plan is to push an undefeated Marshall for the playoff with the knowledge that it will never happen. The benefit is that it gets everyone talking about Marshall and the playoff and how they don't belong, but makes taking them for the Access Bowl look like a no brainier. "They were in the discussion for the playoff, schedule to weak, they only deserve the Access."

I think it's a great strategy.

I think this was tempered because of our running game. Cato is still a great passer, but his numbers have suffered because of our run game balance.

Does anybody think there is a chance College Gameday could be in Huntington for the Marshall-Rice game? In theory, it should be a 9-0 vs. 6-3 matchup... About as good as it gets for C-USA. The only other game of note that day is MSST @ Bama... But they've already done a lot of Bama and MSU games this season (Not that it'd surprise me to see another).

ESPN is not going to go anywhere where the teams are not televised by the ESPN/ABC empire.

They did a few years ago for a MWC matchup between Utah and TCU on CBS Sports Network.

Struggling against a very bad UConn team at home will likely cause the Pirates to drop a spot or two in the polls. Argh!

That doesn't matter. You and everyone else already know there is P5 bais, and one only has to look at the make up of the selection committee to know they too will be bais as well. We struggled against USF and still moved up, same with SMU. To think the P5 bais won't extend to picking the top G5 is blind denial of reality. So Marshall is a very good team, never said Marshall wasn't. But, you have nothing to get that P5 bais to work in your favor. That's why Marshall wasn't ranked until they reached 6-0 and ECU was ranked at 4-1 and I think ECU will as long as it keeps winning will out pace Marshall in the polls, all of them. I'm not saying it's right. I've said for years that it should record first then SOS to separate team with equal records. In that world Marshall would be top 5 right now and ECU top 15; and if both won out one would be in the 4 team play off the other with the G5 slot. But, that will not happen.

EXACTO MUNDO, SENOR'! As long as we're not a part of ESPN Programming; CUSA is non-existent to ESPN! Does ESPN still have the CUSA Championship game? If so, I guess they might do a satellite feed with a TV reporter appearing on College GameDay for about two minutes before our Championship Game.
