“Both the women and male coaches had locker rooms, but the University assigned the referees and umpires to use the women coaches’ locker room.” According to the complaint file. “Male referees and umpires walked in on every female coach, and at least three female coaches were nude when a referee or umpire walked in.”

I feel bad for any umpire that walked in on the coach! But in all honesty I have to think the recent move to upgrade Scott Park facilities might be related to this. The University wants to address this for sure and they wil probably settle with this coach.

I don't think they settle.

There are some very good things society never would have come to if not shoved down the throats of the controlling influences by the majority Civil rights are one of these things. If not for title ix we'd still be waiting for the E. German chemical trials to tell us the physical capabilities of half the population. There are some sports that are always going to be "smaller" but we should try and promote them. Our women's b-ball team tells us that for most people, it's the competition and the personal interest that gets people interested. It's not the talent being NBA.

Softball may never be a big sport but come-on. They shouldn't have to deal with men walking through the lockers. It's these things that deserve "over-reaction" if only to find a better balance.

Many interesting items appear in the complaint. If I remember right we had a very successful WSB program with Coach Cheryl Sprangler (sp) years ago. She had very poor facilities if I recall and she got the team into the NCAA's on repeated trips.

One other side thought. Agree that I can see Karabin making that comment. Mike had a NO filter.
For you attorneys out there...since he's retired will he have to secure and pay for his own defense if he is brought into this case? If so, Pappy will wish he had just kept quiet on the matter.
Time will tell.

Cheryl Sprangle was a tremendous coach that led UT to the softball world series. She had lots of offers, but liked Toledo and had family nearby. She asked AD Pete Liske, known mostly for playing solitaire in his office, for a $5,000 raise. He said no, and she went to an ACC school. The program never recovered.

Based on my limited knowledge, UT would be covering the legal fees since their attorneys would be prepping him on what UT wants him to say for any depositions or trials.

Poor facilities???
They played on Carter Field.
No Dugout structures, pressbox, or Restrooms.
The locker room was in Centennial/Savage Hall which they shared with ALL the other women's teams.
The outfield was temporary and held up by braces.

And this gal was complaining about sharing the locker room next to the field with the soccer team.
