I think he's realized it since day one -- he's not as naive as many here think. The fact that he acknowledged it is the more somewhat surprising thing here, IMO.

I was always under the impression that it was going to happen in the summer of 2015.

Agreed. Maybe that's what I should have said. I was shocked to hear him actually acknowledge how many fans haven't and wont buy in.

It would have to be an upgrade. They don't even manufacture that old technology anymore.
But to do it right, Acer needs to stop hanging on to his millions, make the big donation, and bowl in the Acer West Endzone, with the Aaron Ziegler scoreboard behind it.

Robert Spillane, Nathan Braster, Nick Matich, Wyatt Pfeifer, Chukes, etc. are all getting playing time and making immediate impacts.
Jarv is beginning to conquer WMU RB history (at this rate), yes. But that doesn't mean the team as a whole is beginning to conquer the MAC. As you point out, there's plenty of immediate impact-players, Jarv being obviously one of the strongest -- but that's a separate notion than WMU beginning to Conquer the MAC West (ie being CMU of several years ago, NIU in recent years).

Very true - with what should be no worse than a near-record crowd to start the season and CMU coming to Kalamazoo later in the year, next season has the potential to be a great year for attendance at Waldo.
With regards to this, I wonder if there are any plans to add temporary additional seating for the MSU game. I think it would be pretty easy to add some temporary bleachers to the open corners on the scoreboard side. Probably could mean an extra 3,000 in seating there assuming the hills are filled up. Heck, even make them permanent bleachers. Would be worth the cost to set a MAC attendance record that would never be broken, I'd think.

I guess not! Hey, in a "a year later" or "where are they now?" thing -- I guess ALL changes come to the table, right?

Yeah, that would be sweet. If it's relatively feasible without non-obvious complications -- then I would vie for that. If we had that and filled the grass, we'd top 40k. And it'd be MFing LOUD in there!

I think it would be wise of Kathy to talk to CMU, find out about some of the things they did to take advantage of knowing you'll have a once-in-a-generation overflow crowd, what they might recommend, what they might do differently in hindsight, etc.
I'm kind of curious myself to find out more about how CMU handled this. Maybe Arrows or one of the other Chips who occasionally posts here can elaborate?

I have always longed for the president to make a true push. Put it out there to the alum's, we want butts in the seats, if you are a Bronco, put a game at Waldo on your list for next year. The old saying, if you want the sale you have to ask. 40,000 in and around Waldo would be a totally crazy day.

Oh there's no doubt he knew fans wouldn't buy into it. He knew that's why he was hired: To get people to buy into WMU Bronco football period, as they don't even buy the program. To do that he said they'd have to put up the Ws.

RE: A Year Later
It's going to be a Friday Night Game. Tail gating will be wild. I know I'm definitely going. My tailgating antics from years past will certainly rise to the surface, behind my strength of a thousand field mice.
Since it's the 1st game, Friday Night, big spotlight -- I'm sure they can expand the seating for a one-time event. It's on FRI, Sept 4th. Our next home game, if we don't have it as a bye, will be Sept 19th. Plenty of time to dismantle a temporary rent-a-bleacher set to add a few thousand.
2 Thousand Seats x $20-$25 a seat = $40-$50k. How much does it cost to rent what a mobile circus carts around? :) Honestly, if it cost the university (an inflated price of) $30k to handle all that -- I'd say go for it.

Interesting that we are 41st in the nation in rushing according to that piece. With (basically) the leading rusher in the nation, I would have figured we would be much higher.

Broncos passing game is very stout as well. Therefore, providing a balanced offense and not augmenting either the rushing nor the passing stats.
Indicative of a very balanced offensive arsenal.

RE: A Year Later
After watching your last game you might currently have the best team in the MAC. PJ has the team improving week to week as the season progresses.
Unless something changes at NIU in a hurry you will beat us decisively when we meet later this season.
