Big Boy Rules - Texas AD Estimates Athletes Will Receive $10K Each

Assuming the new policies survive the legal appeals process, Patterson said UT won’t have problems paying the extra $6 million to its players. That money will break down to about $10,000 for each player. The money will cover college expenses that aren’t covered by a traditional full scholarship and give each player $5,000 in compensation for the university’s use of his image.

The paragraph is misleading. Texas won't be paying out that much money to athletes.

The extra costs that colleges are basing their stipends on is a federally mandated number that all colleges must provide to the DOE. Any money paid to athletes above the reported "true costs" number should be considered income paid to employees. Taxable.

I figure you're only joking, but this will only be the "legal" money. You better believe they'll still be paid under the table.

We already have a pro league. They play on Sundays.

"College" football that pays its players will look like the USFL. Bring back the Jersey Generals and Donald Trump.

Right --- there's too much TV and other sources of money out there not to.
