Halloween/Tulsa Forecast
Alrighty...Extended forecast looks good for Tulsa game on Halloween.
We need a BIG CROWD.
SUNNY/CLEAR, High of 70, Low of 50, 10% Chance of Precip.
PERFECT FOOTBALL WEATHER!
I know it's a ways off, but much better outlook than we had for the Houston game.

If we can beat SMU, and the weather holds...Memphis should get a solid homecoming crowd at the Liberty Bowl.

Plus, Bret Michaels should bring out the cougars...

RE: Halloween/Tulsa Forecast
While we were complaining (myself included) for 32,000 against Houston...TCU had 42,000 against Oklahoma State.

Comparatively, we didn't do so bad. But we need to be pushing 40,000 for home games.

We had Missy vs Tn and Grizz 1st home game going on. I'll take 32.

10/23 Update:
SUNNY/CLEAR, High of 67, Low of 45, 20% Chance of Precip.

Temp has dropped a few degrees and precip bumped up slightly.
The Th and Sa on either side look good, too, which is encouraging.
Still a ways to go, so it could change

Halloween night+Eric Church at FEF+high school football=35,000. As long as there's people in the endzones and people up to the second tunnels on the visitors side, it will look like a sellout on TV. All about those camera angles...

10/24 Update:
Partly Cloudy, High of 67, Low of 44, 10% Chance of Precip.

Still looks good but has gone from Clear to Partly Cloudy. The main concern is that there if now 50% chance of rain on Wed & Thur. Hopefully, that doesn't slow up and slide into Friday.

GO TIGERS!!!

I fear that the crowd will be close to 30K...Friday night homecoming isn't ideal.

I'd rather see more, but anything in the 30's imho is respectable. I just don't want to see any games dropping down into the 20s.

Imho, anything on the north side of 35,000 would be great. Of course attendance is easy for me to talk about since I live 700 miles away.

10/25 Update:
CLEAR, High of 60, Low of 38, 10% Chance of Precip, Winds N-10.

Bring a jacket! Temps gettlng lower, but still not cold. The rain forecast for Wed & Thurs has disappeared which is good. Again, GOOD football weather!

GO TIGERS!!!

you fear that?

Tulsa announced a crowd of 18,000 for their last home game...

30k is a nice crowd for a Friday night game in our league.

RE: Halloween/Tulsa Forecast
Yes it is...but...if we are thinking bigger than this league in the future, let alone recruiting and more...larger fan numbers matter...a lot.

Not expecting us to start averaging 50K or more immediately...but getting those numbers above 40 would be a big deal.

THe good news is MEMPHIS is 4-3, coming home to a game on ESPNU to go to 5-3, and the weather appears to be quite agreeable for a change.

Moreover, Bowen has the AOB folks putting together trick or treating along TIGER Lane for a few hours prior to the game. So that is an option. Groups of parents could bring their kids to that and be in a protected environment.

I'll predict a crowd of 33,500 Friday night.

Whether we like it or not, the number announced isn't what matters when it comes to appearance on TV. Will we have double what Tulsa averages? Yes. BUT, we play in a 60,000 seat stadium. So 35,000 means there's 10,000-15,000 on the side that's seen on TV. SO, to the average watcher, it will be, "Memphis attendance sucks." It doesn't matter what team it is. It could be Alabama. Empty seats always gives off a bad vibe. Especially thousands and thousands of empty seats, as is our case. We could average 45,000, but that still leaves 15,000 empty seats. Just the downside of playing in a stadium that's too big for the program
