Hypothetically if there is one less eligible teams than there are spots so it goes down to an FCS transitional. We could be competing for that spot with Old Dominion. Which commissioner is more likely to support the crap out of their team.

Here's the simple truth: It's not about YOU. He should be pimping EVERYONE as much as possible.

"Hey, did you see the attendance at Cajun Field last week?"
"How about that ULM stomping on P5 Wake?"
"Georgia Southern is really turning some heads! Have you seen them racking up wins?"
"Looks like stAte is getting on a roll and could garner some national attention!"
"Have you seen how nice Bobcat Stadium looks down at Texas State?"

At this point in time, he should be mentioning every potentially bowl eligible team to anyone who will listen. When it looks like there won't be enough bowl teams, he should be screaming Georgia Southern from the tops of mountains to make sure everyone hears about it.

Agree 100% with this. I was just using us as an example.

Geez, this is sad... I just realized... All the other examples I noted had something to do with performance except for my own team.

PLEASE GOD GIVE US A DECENT WIN TO BRAG ABOUT!

As far as people criticizing him that has been mostly the fans of the 'left-behind' schools that are really just mad they are still here, don't want to be here, and want to blame someone else.

Think he has done a very good job of putting together another strong group of schools in the new SBC. GaSt, and TxSt, have high ceilings as FBS, Idaho and NMSU do not have the 'call-up' stigma, and when he added GaSo and AppSt he hit an out of the park, grand-slam game winning home run, that will pay big benefits down the road.

None of this will stop the fans of the left-behinds from bad mouthing Benson, and trying to entice you newbies into joining them.

Keep in mind that Benson was hired two years ago. At the time of his hiring, the majority of this board hated the decision because they all felt he was a poor commissioner of the WAC.

This isn't some new thing that Arkansas State and Cajun fans have started. He was never liked from the beginning. There were Texas State fans frustrated when they joined the league that Benson was commissioner.

I was a part of that group. As the WAC was dying and Benson struggled to keep it alive, I thought, at least we will end up in the SBC or CUSA and get away from him. Then he went to the SBC and brought us along. While I am thankful to have a spot and not get left out like Idaho and NMSU, I hate that we had Benson again.

Our AD loves him and is super loyal cause he gave two FBS conferences. But Benson is like Fran, their ideas are dated and we need fresh ideas to really move forward.

That being said, you do have a nice little stadium over there.

RE: Benson Radio Interview
I got to say I was very surprised that the SBC picked Benson up when he was voted out by the WAC schools. What SBC schools need to do is push Benson to get a better TV deal. He could never do that for the WAC. Schools wanted him to do that but he never did.

Benson did not seem awake for this interview. Awful to listen to.

Benson wasn't voted out by the WAC. He left the WAC for the Sun Belt. The handwriting was in the wall for that conference.

That interview was just embarrassing. Nobody can deny that. It sounded like he wanted to be anywhere but there doing that. And that kinda sums up his career as our commissioner. Too bad he didn't get that other commish job he applied for.

I am fully convinced the Sun Belt Conference would have died under Wright Waters. He refused to even consider realignment as a possibility.

RE: Benson Radio Interview
Surprised at all the Benson bashing considering he save the Sun Belt and having quite a few schools from having to be independent in football.
Well, hopefully, you guys get rid of the person who saved the Sun Belt, then maybe the Sunbelt will dissolve and we can be rid of one less G5 Conference and get a larger share of the CFP money.
But I'll say, it isn't good for the Sun Belt having a FCS team win the conference.

He didn't exactly save the Sun Belt. It was known we ran Waters off because we wanted someone to come in and expand the league. Its not like the 3 other job candidates wouldn't have been able to do the same thing.

He was a guy who said "I don't like fire so I'm not participating" while standing in an inferno in his living room.

I'd say it means we added a very strong team. They would be doing the same thing in every G5 conference. UTSA was picked to win or get second in the CUSA west. Guess that means CUSA sucks if a first year full FBS team is already at the top. Or does it mean UTSA transitioned well? Guess it depends on your prespective.

They're not an FCS team. They're a transition team, and obviously one of the best choices the Belt could possibly have made. I'll give Benson credit for that, blind hog and all.......
