RE: OT: Florida St or Notre Dame
I thought the db engaged the receiver, hell, he wasn't even complaining about the call when he saw the touchdown. The problem with most higher level division sports is, they don't have officials who have played at that level or even near that level.

RE: OT: Florida St or Notre Dame
Sportscenter said that Notre Dame ran the same play to the left on their first touchdown. It wasn't called and that likely the FSU guys laid into the refs to watch out for those picks on a pass play to the endzone. They also said the ND receivers need to learn to turn to the QB as if to catch a ball and just make the DBs run around them, without actively engaging the defenders. Makes pretty good sense.

It is good to feed off the sweet tears of the Irish.

I've never seen two WR's intentionally block like that before on a pass play. That might be the most blatant attempt at cheating on a football field I have ever seen. Nice try. But it was too easy to call.

Cheating? Strong words for a penalty. You an FSU grad or just anti-ND?

It was s blatant illegal play. 2 different nd players blocking right off the snap on the same side. That is why he came so wide open

They did the same thing on 3rd and goal to the left side to get their 1st td too. Kelly says he doesn't coach illegal plays but they set picks quite a bit to dispute that

I don't like either team, but it was OBVIOUS the receivers were INTENTIONALLY blocking the defenders so the third receiver would come wide open. They didn't even make an effort to try to turn around or even act like they were running a route.

If you're going to block like that you have to throw the ball behind the line scrimmage and again it's clear they weren't trying to do that. They meant to block and pick the DB's and they meant to throw the ball where they did. It's the most obvious and egregious pick play I have ever seen. I give Notre Dame credit for trying it, but again it was an easy call.

If they'd run at the defenders and then button-hooked, the receiver would still have been open and there would have been no call. Possibly 3 targets would have been open inside the defenders like that. Just poor execution or understanding.

This was a clear call. I do not know how anyone could complain about that. You just can't pick block before a pass is completed.

Holtz actually said on sportscenter it was the right call. He said something like I'm sorry but you can't do that and the referees had to call the penalty.

He was right, I missed hearing him say that, but I still can't help but wonder if it were he pacing the ND sidelines instead of Brian Kelly, would he have just shrugged his shoulders and taken the ruling. #IDoubtIt

And still he picked Notre Dame to be in the "Farce Of 4" Mythical National Championship Playoff.
